If releasing a kingdom from it's vassal state (under the circumstances I previously described) is a negative thing, why does the AI respond positivly?

Must be like I said: If kingdom power is relative to all the other countries, they must see it as a weakness to willingly let a territory go. obviously the vassaled country would be happy not to pay out all the money. however, the rest of the world considers you a wimp. An honorable wimp, but a wimp none the less. Sorry. I would have done the samething myself, so don't take it too hard.

in real life yes.. it's a game where vassal's don't mean that much. Heck, i had golden horde as my vassal when i was kazan one time, next thing i knew they were wiped out, they didn't ask for help or anything.. It doesn't mean anything..

Good point, JavalTigar. I hadn't considered that angle.
vassal is means basicly give me money and i will protect u so thats what they do stop complaining
i mean why do u accept an demand attack from other kingdom anyway i never accept anything even trade agreement! because it is easy for their spys to infiltrate your court then

Actually, in regards to history, a vassal state was a far more complicated arrangement than the strictly financial or even the militaristic. There seems to be little reason why the game could not be given a few more options to reflect this. Such as offering yourself as a vassal during peacetime, of being granted addional units loyal to your king yet under your own control. Alright, maybe the second one would be a bit complicated (although certainly not impossible), but the former would be an easy inclusion.
yes u should be able to ask someone if he wants to become vassal or become self one

I agree that one shouldn't have to go to war and then demand vassalage as a tribute to gain a vassal. The benefits of being a vassal need to be increased(as has already been said, if the AI moved to attack those who you were at war with, but I suppose you can already do that by asking them through diplomacy.)
Kingdoms should also be allowed to gain more than one vassal. The AI should never agree to vassalage if it has a larger number of territories or higher military strength than the party asking. Vassals should display as being part of or owned by the kingdom they are subject to, but defined on a sub-level as territories within the kingdom.
Say I'm playing as England, and I make Scotland my vassal. The territories should display in the political view under the color of England(red), but with a dotted line separating the lands directly owned by the King of England and the ruler of Scotland, with perhaps hashing indicative of the original kingdom's color, in this case, blue hashing on a red field. The difference between lands of the vassal and directly annexed lands remains the same - the AI still controls it, but on the map it looks like it belongs to(and hence makes you responsible for) that territory.
I also believe that kingdoms that have become vassals should change the title of the ruler, perhaps "Lord" or "Duke" or something. If the vassal declares independance, the original title should be restored.
