View Full Version : Or how about Books?
I read mostly fantasy but dabble into a bit of everything.
Recommended reads:
A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Maritn--A must read for everyone
Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series and the Otherland series by Tad Williams. Also a must read.
Wheel of Time if you can stomach long descriptions, etc.
There's something mentioned about books in here: http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=255
But, I will repeat mine: from fantasy genre, it':
J.R.R. Tolkien - everything concerning with Middle Earth
Andrzej Sapkowski,
Terry Prachett - even if it's not ONLY fantasy
David Edinggs
But another genres?
I like Salman Rushdie - short stories (East-West), The Moor's Last Sigh, but disapointed by TRAGICAL czech translation of Satanic Verses (it made the book unreadable and I'm sure it isn't in original)
Umberto Eco - Il nome della rosa, Baudolino
and the "classics"
Franz Kafka
and master poet Charles Baudelaire
also another poet here, I doubt there is anybody who knows Jiøí Orten, czech jewish poet from WW2
but never forget and love (and hope that everyone knows) Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince
But now I'm able to read only historical books and Prachett
PS. historical mediaval-I recomand you Georges Duby - Le Dimanche de Bouvines (Sunday of Bouvines)
I'm currently reading the "Discworld" Series by Terry Pratchett. I must say they're excellent!:D

Yes, they really, really are;)
You just have to try "War of the Spider Queen" from a group of authors under R. A. Salvatore's leading hand. It's a six-part epic novel series just about Drow. Unfortunately, only the first one has been released here so far, and I got it through in almost one single week (it's hard to stop reading once you started with this book). Luckily, part two is almost avaiable... At least I hope so... =)
i recently bought 'how to fight modern wars' by Gen. Wesley Clark, the next president of the US...;)
i do hope he's smarter than Bush...:D
heh, not too difficult to beat.
*grins* all too true ...
"Wes" was featured in one of those free magazines one can get at the GE.A.F Squadron-HQ I am stationed at. He seems pretty cool and smart. And of course, he's a veteran-warrior. I'd bet the US-americans will vote him.
Too bad Clinton had to go. :/
Richard Plantagenet

anyone interested in the Plantagenet empire should read Novels by Sharon K Penman.
The Sunn in Splendor is an exceptional novel about Richard III. When Christ and his Saints slept is also VERY good!
highly recommended:cheers:
