View Full Version : At last, conquered all of Europe!

Game setting at hard, I finally conquered every province! Took a bloody long time, but really enjoyed myself. Most of the time, I used 7 marshalls and 2 clerics. Every time I took a province, I would convert the religion and adopt the population, so I rarely, if ever, had any loyalist or rebellion uprisings.
Unfortunately, learned the hard way about 2/3 of the way through that keeping a spy at home is very much required! All my fully trained marshalls rebelled and left me with nobody to defend anything! Like I said, good thing I had no internal uprisings to worry about, or I could have been in deep trouble!
Had to build up my forces again and re-train my new marshalls. That was a bummer, but this time I used only 6, because I trained up a 5 star stay-at-home spy to catch any baddies!
I am looking forward to the patch, hopeful that it will provide the opportunity to have a significantly more challenging match! :) :cheers:

Actually, I read somewhere that spies who stay at home do work in "counter-intelligence", helping to keep you safe.

I think it is an absolute must to have a spy doing counterintelligence. I educate him as good and fast as I can too. Whether that helps him find fakeys I don't know. I was in the process of taking overf all of europe but then I got bored when my 3 marshalls that were doing the conquering crushed everyone in sight. Then after I would take over a new kingdom I would max out fortifications ASAP with town gaurds and the AI could not touch them. I eagerly await the patch as I had a lot of fun at the start of my game strengthening my kingdom but I lost interest from being invinsible.

I'm in the process of taking all of Europe. I already got over 30 provindece so I have a ways to go. I reqected emp. of europe once and had one of my clerics as pope. I have a builder, a mertcant, 5 marshalls, a cleric, and a spy @ home. I plan to take the builder and mertcant away and replace them to marshalls whenever I need it.

Sounds like you have things well in hand!
I am in a similar position too. Took Brittany from lowly outsiders to owning 20 provinces. Am the biggest kingdom now and am not sure how much more to conquer. Don't want to be too greedy!
I use five Marshalls on my borders. Two Merchants troweling in gold now I have all the kingdom advantages. 1 Cleric to adopt/convert (Had pope twice). Finally 1 Spy to hang around home when hiring new Knights but other than that he 'pops' in to other kingdoms whose land I would like.
I am really enjoying the game but I find myself never bothering to lead a fight. Takes too long. Instead I let my Marshals take care of it. Shame really as I know it's another area of the game. Anyone else do that?
Was in a similar position - but hadn't bothered keeping a well trained spy at home... So my 7 marshalls revolted at once... while being scattered across Europe no less. Now that's quite an acheivement without cell phones and satellite communications :rolleyes:
Anyhow the game is way too easy. Since the AI is dismally stupid and engages in wars it cannot win, constantly, then all you need to do is :
- sit tight, build up your kingdon and never ally with anyone so you won't be called to war;
- build up merchants and rake in fortunes;
- train your officiers until they're unmatched...
A walk in the park that game. Too bad since I really like the interface and the graphical representation. Though I would have added more provinces (samller ones).
Will there be an editing guide covering all aspects of the game that can be modded/changed ?

I used to do auto battels for everything, but then I started getting my *** kicked or loosing too many units even though I had a much better army. That forced me to actually lead my troops. Now I have developed a technique of assulting a castle without loosing a single unit :)
