View Full Version : Landlords and Builders
I don't really use those two types of knights. Really...
You need to usually have 2-3 marshals, one cleric, one spy (maybe two) and a couple of merchants too. Having a finite space for knights it really doesn't allow much room for those two guys. Besides, every knight has some advantage for the whole kingdom (mashals, clerics, spies and merchants), with the exception to the builders and the landlords who only bring bonuses to a particular city. I think in big kingdoms its completely unjustified to hire those two as they only take up space and don't really help the empire.
just my 2 cents.

I agree. For all intents and purposes, they are relatively useless knights.

I say combine both into Landlord and give a 50% increase to food & build w/ 10% increase for each star of experience. Would be great for developement of newly aquired lands.
I would use him then.
They help, but not that much...

I made a prince a builder once, but I didn't notice that big a difference--not to justify giving him a space in the court. I tried a landlord once, but again, his effect wasn't enough to justify giving him one of my valuable court slots.
They got *deadly* with 5 stars, but 5 stars ain't free...

no exp builder only gives +1 work units. 1 star builder only brings in +2 work units. not a good investment in the beginning.
think on this... Hostel + axe smith + tool smithy + horse farm is a better investment than 1000 books for one level upgrade of a builder. base 1 work unit to 2 work units or... base 1 work unit to 6 work units?
landlords are similair... only +1 food for no exp and +2 food for level 2 experience... a bonus % of food would have been better than just + constant
IE...
Landlord +20% increase for no experience, +30% for level 1, +40% for level three, +50% to to +70% increase.
Level 5 landlord, +5 food or + 1.7 * 10 food ? 15 or 17 food? which would be better?

Or No exp Landlord gives you +1 food in each farm.

Agreed, it's barely worth the 1000 gold for the small bonus you get from an untrained landlord or builder, much less the slot in the court. Mabye if they gave a bonus to the province they're governing and all the provinces directly adjacent to that province it would be worth it. I think they're both pretty unimpressive even with 5 stars, and by the time i can afford to invest 5000 books in one of them, that slot is too valuable to waste on a small bonus in 1 province.

I use my books to counter nostalgia. If I had double the amount of books, I would all use them to counter nostalgia. If I have any books to spare, I upgrade my cleric to improve his changes of converting. No Landlords or builders for me!
