View Full Version : a few ideas for computer games
In reply to Lord Devious
I have a few ideas for computer games, anyone know how to pitch them to a developer?
To answer your question:
1. look once more at your manuscripts - if you think that it is wort around $1.000.000 then proced to number 2. !
2. Get in contact with a small development team and show them the manuscript along with a check of $1.000.000
It is as easy as that !
If you don't have a $1.000.000 just laying around you can just forget about it, cause who want to risk their company's life by putting money in your project - althrough you happens to have The-game-of-the-year manuscript - these things just don't happen - i'm sorry, but i have sorta been a bit down this road of dissapointment myself :(
Or you could join one of the companys and when the sit down and try to come up with new games you can tell em about your ideas.

Yeahhhh good idea :) ........except that to join a team developers you need an education first like computerscience, graphic artist etc. I'll guess that today no one in the industy would hire anyone which hasen't a good paper to show, that could have worked 10 - 15 years ago, but not today,
In the old days lots of people was sota self made and computergames often was made by 2 - 6 man teams like the company Codemasters - as far as i remember that company was started by two brothers and was a family business for a long time i.e. the two brothers did the programming and their little sister and mother were hired to pack and ship the finished product.
hi ho that's were the days :D
So the bottom line is: Get an education first ;)
Well yea, of course you need one.

Unless you are exceptionally talented or know the boss!
Or unless The boss is your father.

Well the fact that i need $1000 to pay the company isnt too attractive, mainly due to the fact i am only 16!
How does that work though? me paying the company for them to make money? Weired! Shouldnt thewy be paying me?

I think Hendrik said "1 million big ones" not a thousand small ones :)
You had better start saving or win a lotto dood :)
Dont let Hendrik scare you off. dreams do come true.
Best option is to study hard and try to get employed with a gaming company i thinks :)
Hi Lord Nicko
I wasen't trying to scare him off - I just thought i would tell him the hard facts, but he stated that he's 16 years so I'll guess his has "plenty" of time to persue his dream - I myself are almost 32 years old and I don't have the education nor do i think i have the brain to learn how to program, so i think that when it comes down to the truth i also dream about getting a manuscript made into a computergame, but i'm also a $1.000.000 short of cash :D
But there is nothing wrong about dreaming....
