View Full Version : King too busy to make babies?
Ihave heard too, that when the king is a cleric, than he shall produce more babies, but i dont think so.
They both lived in 17th century and it was something different than in middle ages.
In MA women were only to give the claim to throne to their housband or son. There was possibility of woman's regent rule, but not as definite kind of rule, only "until the right heir is grown"
The Empress Matilda, daughter of Henry I, King of England, was made his heir and was to an extent the ruler of England, albeit a rule that Stephen, he of 'when Christ and his Saints slept,' disputed and eventually ended, though with her son Henry as his heir.

Ivan Vladislav.. it matters. When your king dies without leaving an heir, king becomes one of your knights. In my case this was the most experienced of my marshals, and eventually I lost him when he died of old age. That's why I prefer that there is an heir to the throne.
Also, when one of your knights becomes a King there is a very big chance of some of your provinces claiming independence in an ensuing civil war, which is not nice.

If they are appointed to some position in the court, they don't disappear, just become normal knights (rather than Princes).
In fact, this is the surest way to have immortal (save for assassination/death in battle) safe (not foreign spies) knights in your service - appoint only second and third sons of your to the court. :)

to have lots of offspring you need to have a king in royal court, marry your prince to some princess in small country.
A king who marries a noble woman wont produce bugger all offspring.
each game is differetnt, each king does it different. I tried many ways how to make sure my king will have bunch of kids, but nothing is 100%. Also when my king maried local noble woman, he had some children :)

Having the king in court makes no difference. In my current game the first king died without an heir and he was a court the whole time, so my strongest marshal took the throne. I never took him back to court. He was on a huge campaign thru norway and germany his entire reign. He fathered 3 sons & 1 daughter. Now the prince has taken the crown, staying at home and already has a son.
The game just randomizes it. Which ****s! I always try to keep one marshal more powerful so there wont be a civil war.

In the medieval age fertility was quite random! There was no method to influence fertility. So that's hard realism. :go:

Not true!!!
My best game so far had my lonely prince become King, then he married a local Noblewoman, they then produced 3 of each offspring :beek:
I then was able to marry them all off (eventually) to each of the strongest countries, although it took awhile.
I just wish there were "situations" that helped to create certain aspects of birth rate, marriage proposals, alliances, etc. Maybe we'll see this in a 2nd Patch (if's there going to be one) or later on with KoH2 (which they'd be stupid no too)
