View Full Version : Wow, this game gets old FAST.
well, first, let me say that anyone whom dislikes the game may feel free to give thier copy to me- i will gladlly accept it, and fid a good home for it ;)
next, I think that instead of a patch, the game is in need fo a full x-pack- because what you all are asking for is goign to require alot of time, and money to create, and such hard work diserves a bit of a cash incentive on part of a company to make
and ofcourse, modability, if the game cant accept much/any of it for the time being, always makes a games life last for a long time- as I think the team makign this game has found a GREAT basis graphically for this style of game- and they seem to have a very solid foundation for thier work- but now its time to truelly build a house that can last a century, building upon this foundation

Well, might as well let this be my first post. . . .
The comments posted here suggest that the market for this game is pretty divided. Some poeple want it to look more like AOE/RON and others want a more challenging empire-builder. For myself, I have to agree with Lord Elric -- I am completely uninterested in a game that resembles either Age of Empires or Rise of Nations, both of which struck me two of the most uninterestng games I have ever tried. Fortunately, given this game's current design, I think there is little chance that anything like that will be added to a patch. Features like animated building construction would require some major coding, and would distract the developers' attention from the crucial issue of making the game's AI more challenging and slowing down the linear conquest of one province after another.
I chose to order this game from UK after playing the demo a couple of times and am keeping my fingers crossed that it can be patched well enough to make it worth the expense! Sunflowers would do well to emulate the standard set by Paradox for custormer support and keep working on this game until they get it right! There's no crime in releasing a game that needs further work, IMO. Speaking as someone who has been involved in beta-testing for Paradox (although not with Crusader Kings), I can say from experience that getting the a.i. right for a complicated game (and not something as simple-minded as AOE) is really quite difficult & requires feedback from a large pool of players. Anyone who whines that a game's a.i. should be perfect upon release obviously doesn't have much experience with game design. On the other hand, the developers do owe it to their players to improve their products.
A.I. is the most difficult part of a game. Even more difficult than the physics (3d shooters). If some major AI research is made, that will allow very complex and easy AI making, the games and stuff AI will develop difficult.
As noob programer I can say it is difficult to make an AI for tic tac toe game, and don't wanna thing about games as KoH or Unreal Tournament and etc.
Mediävist is right.
well, i for one dont want too advanced an AI- lest we have a "matrix" situation- and i for one dont want to tbe saved by Keeanu Reeves ;)

Haveing looked at all the comments on this game, I think you miss the point, for those negative to this game.
This game is across the board, takes in all the other games,(with out the zoom thank goodness), what you need to do is work at it for some time, you will see the merit of the way the game has been made.
With the patch this has made the game better,'Well', so far.
Thats the fun, time to work your way through.
If you want instant success, then AOE is your game.
Have fun.

You obviously miss the point, Lord - Piecemeal. What people are saying on this thread is that the game is too easy, not too hard. At least, that was the point when the thread opened up a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, this thread is probably completely outdated now that the patch has been released. People will have to form new opinions on whether the game has gotten any harder. "Getting old fast" means too easy to beat.

With the patch out now. I think the game is harder but I liked it alot before. I have played some of the other games and could not figure out why I was watching a single dude build my buildings.
Wasnt the who idea of the game to to Real Time Strategy?
I am not bored by the game with or without the patch. There are things you can do in KoH to make the game harder for youself.

Yes i read you load and clear,Alex Poff, and you are right, my comments have come to late.
But the game is better with the new patch, and the Multiplayer has improoved one hundred fold, In my view.
Sorry I missed the point my Lord, but in my world getting old fast, means game is not up to scratch.
Easy to get yourself 'miss-interpeted'.
