View Full Version : Conquest of Europe
I spend hours setting up my empire, province by province. I own most of the western territories and am pushing east to conquer new lands. My goal is to conquer it all and then claim the crown. So one happy day in the Kingdom of Denmark, Sven and Gunnlaug march with their armies to lay siege on the province of Toledo. Without much effort the city is theirs, however as soon as I conquered the city the King dies and the only heir to the throne is still a baby, so one of my priests takes charge of the kingdom. At the same time as the King has died, I notice I lost all my kingdom advantages and all of my trade goos, and I mean ALL of them. I check my provinces and I have NONE!!!! NONE NOTHING except for my starting provinces. What happened? Im so angry I spent so much time conquering all that land. Why? Why? Why? why did this happen? What caused me to loose all my land?? :bash:  :bash:

Ya ****s don't it! :p
Happened to me once but instead of my heir being a baby a scottish spy kied him. Not much you can do about it reconquer as many provs. as you can while they are still week.
Good luck.
So you're saying I lost all that land because my King died and I had no heir?

ok..............................
Have you checked the message bar (there's a triangle down to the left)? Usually when the king dies, happiness decreases drastically and a lot of rebellions start. If you have been waging a blitz war, then your provinces probably had a high level of nostalgia and they rebelled. Or just all of a sudden the old kingdoms arose from their ashes!

im just checking because why would an already conquered lets say bohemia come back to life with all privinces after you and your marshalls smashed them to bits your poit seems like this should be along with the king dying and no heir should be fixed in the next patch i also heard the patch will only be 20MB like what the @$&#!!! that wont be enough i think
Ummm my kingdom power was at +5 when the event happened
I had it once too..man it is frustrating yes.!
I think it is intended to reproduce a massive civil war. If you think of it, it could be possible indeed.
Even if you have smashed all their former Marshalls, why should it not be
possible that the citizens of a certain town claim their former independency?
Like they kick out your forces and bar the gate....Au Revoir!! :bday:
What I mean to say, i am 100 % sure its not a bug.
Its just a devious twist in the line of events. Somewhere I liked it.
It felt like: reconquer all and install Martial Laws at once! Death to the Rebels.
Then again, I had to reconquer 30+ provinces..
In my case I just reloaded the autosave and paid good attention to what happened.
Well, in the replay the massive civil war never happened. That made me believe stronger
that it was indeed a chance-factor build in the game, intentionally.

I did the same and had the same effect.
I was the most unlucky lord in all the lands, I was about to go down to dinner my king died, and less than a second after i clciked menu and saved!!!! 1 split second after the whole mess, lost over 40 provinces
Hehe, I remember I was playing as Byzantium and my Emperor turned aged without a male heir. So, realizing that my empire would soon go to hell in a handbasket I went on a mad dash to conquer Europe in time. Given that I already ruled Italy, the Balkans, and most of the Middle East, I was one rich little man. I had so much piety and gold pouring in I could move my KP to 5 in no time so making and breaking friends was no issue.
By the time he turned venerable my Empire stretched from Mecca to Lisbon, and I was about to move on France when... tada! Europe has elected you their Emperor. Three cheers for that chap in Constantinople! :D
During my wars against the Muslims I had to make goodie goodie with the rest of Europe.. and thus when I had eradicated the last vestiges of Islam and was ready to turn on the north, they already loved me so much they wanted to join me before I could make them join me. :)
i hvae experienced that twice.. also, when i reload from the autosave nothing is happening and everything continues fine after the death of the king.. Buts its weird and somewhat annoying ;)
I had this today! My stupid king didn't had even one child and when he died "some of the local governors have decided to claim independency"! I've just conquered Sweden and was dealing with the rebels and now I have to conquer them again! And my best marshall is the new king, so I can't use him!  I hate it when the kings are homos and can't have children!

Yesterday I had no heirs and I was terrorfide that it would happen to me. So I was saving the game every other minute so I could reload it again. Everything went fine and my 5 star spy became king.
Umm I now went through another 4 generations of rulers and as soon as the prince was grown I would force him to marry, so when he became king he would'nt waste his baby making time looking for a wife, so far all these 4 generations have had heirs
