The game runs fine on my system and is stable except for a re-occurring glitch where the program stops running when a prompt message appears..
I cannot forward a saved game because there is no consistency as to when the problem will occurr. I get a message which I have seen before with other programs. (ie) "Program Performed Illegal Operation" where you are given one option to close the program.
Under details it states: "KOH caused an invalid page fault in module Kernal32.DLL" giving a specific address and registry references.
This problem is not fatal to gameplay, as each time I have to restart my system and reload my last save when I can normally play on until the next occurrence.
Can you advise if this problem has been identified as one of the crash problems announced to be fixed in the upcoming patch? Any and all advice appreciated.

How long have you had your current installation of windows on that computer? Sometimes I get that error in other programs as well. I've narrowed my comp problems to non-dx9 compatible sound api (A3D), and windows glitches from not reformating with windows since 1998.
Webmaster, isn't kernal32 the windows application driver?

<snip>
Kernel32.dll is the 32-bit dynamic link library of the operating system kernel. Kernel32.dll handles memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. When Windows boots up, Kernel32.dll is loaded into a protected memory space.

graphic and sound driver are attached to the apis provided by the kernel32.dll.

Running Windows 98SE, that I recently freshly installed from scratch.
511 mg RAM in system and 32 mg on board ram on video card, all fully DX compatible.
Here are a few pre symptoms before the trouble started:
After playing for some time, and after a number of saves I occasionally got an "out of memory" prompt when a further save was attempted with an immediate CTD. The game would run no problem after re-booting and clearing the cache on the drive.
Shortly after I started getting the Invalid Page fault prompts instead.
Looking at the remarks by the webmaster concerning the graphics association with the DLL file I am wondering if this could be symtomatic with the fact that the chip on my graphics card was overheating as I had to replace the sink fan today. Since doing that it has gone back to the "out of memory prompt". Any advice on the memory issue would be helpful.
More system Ram needed? That seems to be the logical answer.
Again, thankyou, any response appreciated.

This game as you know needs Dx9.c, this Is whats recommended, I do not think this problem is a game one.
The Dx9 comes with the Main game, so hope that is all you have to do to get running properly.
I use windows xp, and have had no problem with this game, or any others, Anno 1503 for one, works well.

Just upgraded my OS to XP. Everything else seems to be running much better. It will take a while to assess KOH because my previous problems came later in the game when the save game memory backup was much heavier.
Almost positive now that it was a memory management problem that I had with WIN 98SE.
But I'll have to wait and see.
Thanks
