View Full Version : Scenario "Ships in distance"
I just looked at this scenario from Phillip the Great . Looks great too :)
And extremely difficult.
Did anybody ever solve it ?

It was pretty tough, but not too tough for you Frieden!
I enjoyed playing, and solving it about a month ago.
Did you download it from Helen's club?
Yes, I think so (from Helen/Yahoo ), or directly from from Phillip the Great. A long time I've heard from him nothing more. Hope he's well :)
You solved it :) ? Fine. That gives me already the feeling that it is feasible at all ;)

Phillip the Great's "Enoch's Corner" was also very enjoyable, maybe even more than "Ships in the Distance". Both are available at Helen's site.
any idea .... how can I make the pirates trade ?
..."Enoch's Corner" .....
Saw it today - heavy ... not so very much of spice and cacao ? ;)

I don't remember if I traded with the pirates or not in this scene.
I don't think it really mattered though since the pirates don't have what you most need to finish this scene!
If you didn't trade with the pirates - how did you you get gold
Take over the AI's warehouse ?
Therefore I need cannons ... maybe I should produce thm by myself ... ???

Great minds do often travel the same path!
Though I spent lot's of time with "Reisender2" last week I fisnished "ships in distance" this afternoon :)
I'm a little proud to see this scenario by Philipp which contains a feature I've never seen before. This shows the me the versatility of 1602AD once again ( so far intelligent heads create the scenarios ).
Thank you Philipp, this scenario is very recommendable :go:

A feature that you, Frieden, have not seen! :O This one must be a real brain buster! :bowl: :)
Well ... yes I saw it not at once. I admit -I used the editor to have a look on it ;). What I saw mad e undestand it :)
 Do you have any idea how to see this feature without using editor

Would that be the "Mystery Gold" feature that you're talking about Frieden?
Mystery ? I found it in the warehouse of the other AI.
Where did you found it ?

Maybe via the "Golden Fleece?" ;)

I guess it's not a mystery anymore now is it!
You know me Frieden, I'm not a cheater, I was only trying to make it sound intriguing to anyone looking for a very interesting scenario.
Nice work Phillip!!!!
Yes I know DPT ;)
However, I'm still searching for another way to solve it. By dealing with the pirates. In the beginning one of the pirate's ship has gold on board.
But the pirates never deal with me.
I'm still thinking when they begin to trade....

You got me wondering myself about those darn pirates Frieden. I couldn't remember if when I played "Ships in the Distance" a couple of months ago whether the pirates ever traded with me. I started from the beginning again last night and I'm pretty sure the answer was no they didn't. I, as I'm sure you did, tried the "3rd. tool trick" that you used in "Friends" last year, to no avail.
BTW, take another look in the editor, there is no gold on any pirate ship at the beginning of the scenario. Both AI ships have 10t. each on them and afaik that is the only gold in the game.

You guys did give away a bit too much. After you were talking about it I decided to try it. I was going to try what I did but I didn't know it would work until I read the notes here. It was a good scenario. The volcano helped me out.
I have used this method before but I am not sure if it was in a contest scenario or an 'old' contest scenario. I played what ever contest scenarios I could find even if the contest had ended years ago.
