Could somebody help me? Please
I have a file which size is 1,52 Mb. I need to compress it to the size not bigger than 1Mb.
How could I do that? (Winzip or Power Archiver don't compress to proper size)
Maybe there are some another programs or something?

uharc and bzip2 offer good compression rates, but this really really depends on the source data. already compressed stuff (mp3, videos, pictures, ...) cannot be compressed again!

why u need 1mb?
can't u split into 2 files?

WinRar 3 with 4096K dictionary size and Best compression set, does it's job well.. But of course you can't expect to compress DIVX/XVID video, GIF or JPG pictures or anything that is already compressed in some way.

do u have pictures in the slideshow? which pp version do u use? coz u can configure the compression of the pictures within!

winzip, winrar e.g. can split an archive into files of a special size. winrar calls this spanning, i think.

what is the sound file type? wav? If so, you can try to compress the wav file.

why can it be no larger than 1mb? floppy disk?

Winrar lets you customize the volume size of each file. for instance...
1,457,664 would be 1.44mb volumed file.

The audio file is Mp3 format.
Why not bigger than 1Mb...I want to send that slide to email box and there file cannot be larger than 1Mb

Is splitting the file an option? There are some very good mp3 splitters and joiners available for free.

I haven't any program for mp3 files splitting. But if I spit a mp3 file, will I be able to put such splitted into my slide?

@Webmaster
I've downloaded WinRAR and I can't find such thing like spanning or smth like this

Btw, I don't understand something.
My slide show isn't "long".How can it have such format? Another slide show has the same number of slides (10),has the sound file and is it only 140Kb size! And not big as mine slides which I've seen have never been such big size. I've tried to change background, sound file, shrifts, picture sizes and nothing: file size is the same

Ahh, my mistake. I only caught the "mp3" part earlier in the thread, not everything else.

Have you checked the dpi on the pictures?

picture format is the main culprit in size problems. Try a lower compression jpeg.

How large is the mp3 in size?

Thanks to all who helped me here, who gave good suggestions and were not indifferent.

Yesterday I sit long and tried in lot of ways to decrease format. I even made that slide again (I thought there can be some bugs or smth),checked, what influence has a sound file size, letter size, pictures, the number of slides etc. And I've found that one, the most important picture expands the whole file size (because it was a picture made with digital camera, but it was compressed and I didn't thought it so expands). I lowered picture size and slide size automatically lowered too. Even with this I had to delete one slide (it is 9 now). But I'll try to check another picture sizes and maybe it will be able to put that deleted slide to show again. :)
Thanks

Btw,one more question: If I send the slide with sound file to email box, will that person who will get it, will be able to hear the soundtrack? Or soundtrack can be hearing only in that computer where that soundfile is?

I want to send it to my Friend. Will He be able to hear the sound too?

the mp3 files cannot be compressed, neither can JPG pictures, so forget about compressing them at all
aha.. so the solution is to split the file
again the solutuion is easy with winrar
select 1024K as volume size, or just type 1,000,000 bytes (it's easier to understand, no time to explain why 1024 kilobytes, not 1000 :) ) and then compress the files
then you will have two filess, both less than 1MB and you can send them

but why send the file(s) via email?
attachments were never meant to transport megs of files. grab a free hosting site, upload the complete file and just send your friend the download link.

this is the better way.
