I have played the game a little on single player, I don't do to bad but then again a computer player won't get mad at you for ignoring it nor will it attack you usally so I could actually **** at the game really bad. Anyways me and my brother are interested in playing online when we get a chance. SO any help on setting up games and what not would be nice

Hi, Hippie! Welcome to the Board!:)

It seems the easiest way to set up a multiplayer game is to use an instant messenger... so, before I go into details, do you have an instant messenger? (it isn't an absolute requirement; it just makes communication more convenient)

Yes, of course, mostly msn but a bit of aim also. I will post those later, right now I am most interested in how they work...since I have never started a game I was wondering if I am able to choose the different factors in the game such as difficult, computer players, map, and if they have some sort of team play and what not.

In multiplayer, one player acts as a host with his/her computer being the "server" while the other player(s) are guests or clients. When you select the multiplayer option from your game menu you are prompted to enter information, some of it based on weather you are server or client (i.e. - the server chooses the selection: "form a new group". The client(s) choose "join an existing group".).

You will be promted to choose a network mode; TCP/IP is the usual for internet play. All players must choose the same network mode.

The server must know his IP number and provide the number to the other player(s) before attempting to make a connection (it is not possible to communicate for the few minutes it takes to make the multi connection, so you have to plan ahead a little)

The server, when promted, must tell the game how many human players are playing.

There is other information to supply which I think is self explanitory.

Once a connection is made, the host/server will see a menu of multiplayer scenarios to choose from. As in singleplayer, you can see the mission assignment by clicking on a scenario title. Some require competition and combat, some cooperation and mutual assistance. There is also continuous play where you select the level of difficulty just as in single player. There are also player made multi scenarios that you can download from the net or you can make them yourself with the game editor.

Most of the factors and details of difficulty and of opponents are determined by the scenario creator. It is up to the host to select an appropriate scenario.

Any kind of team play is usually determined by the requirements of the scenario or is agreed upon as in the case of continuous play.

Ok I was just able to start a game with my brother. I didn't have much time to look at it but thanks for your help, maybe soon I'll be playing games with the rest of you people on this board.

I'm off for tonight, I will check back tomorrow if I can so that maybe I can learn more.

ive played other games at their best in multiplayer - most games still havent mastered the idea of a smart AI. Well it never helps to challange a human opponent - they usually prove unpredictable and creative.
