Thank you very much for the patch. It makes an already great game even better!

However, I have one more request: please provide a way to bypass the opening logo screens. Not only does the process take too long, but the Black Sea one in particular is much too loud. This is becoming a problem industry wide and I'm not really sure why. Perhaps when testing in a noisy office environment, it seems like the volume is at a reasonable level, but I assure you that late at night in a quiet house, it's not. Frankly, the problem is annoying enough that it makes me think very bad thoughts about the companies whose sound clips are being blared at me, which is kind of the opposite of the intended effect, I would think.

the contract between EA and SF didn't allow to patch the skipability of the videos.

I cannot try the game now so I am asking anyone playing the game with the patch: is it objectively harder?

I have played through a bit with the new patch. It makes the game slightly more difficult. For example, the cost for new exotic goods is nearly exponential. With 6 exotic goods it can be hard to make a good profit. As I continued a saved game (without the patch) I was forced to reduce my exotic goods from 6 to 3. Also it is very expensive to increase kingdom power when you have very many provinces (above 50 or so).

Best improvement:
The ability to see town/province IDs on the minimap. Comes very handy when you want to command your armies to different castles.

"Worst" improvement:
Those random riots, leading to a "sweap" of provinces lost, without any possibility to influence the outcome (except loading from an earlier save). Not fun, when your goal is to conquer ALL provinces.

With any patch, in any game you cannot use the saves, It becomes distorted as to whether the patch works or not.

its best to start again , when loading a new patch in a game.

Get rid of any saves.

Shouldn't it be possible to deliver with an in-built save-format converter (I.e. the old "save file" is converted when first loaded)? (As in many commercial applications)

PS. Personally I have had no problems wild "old saves". The first time, however, when you loaded the file, it was somewhat distorted (for example, the units' health bars were filled with much red, which shouldn'nt be there). But after the first saving, all was OK (and the bars were full green again).

Not possible. :( Games are usually more complex than most of the commercial software.

It IS possible but not cost efective.. besides.. saved games? why bother? Just start a new game.

NOW.. about saved games.. where are they? I want to delete them now.

savegames are under your user profile in application data\black sea studios, but hidden.

regrettably there won't be a converter for the savegames, coz "save games are very complex ... there are scripts inside, etc ... " (frujin)

I must give BSS applaudes for the new music tracks. They are really marvellous! Hope BSS will put the tracks on a CD, or make them downloadable (as .mp3s).

Sweet! Thanks very much. It works like a charm.

If anyone else wants to try this, make sure you move the old logos.pak completely out of the packs directory (or delete it). I tried leaving it in and just changing the name and extension. Somehow the program found it anyway and used it instead of the new one. Once I moved it completely out of the directory, the new one worked great.
