I got this on the initial instal and than I disabled the Patin-Couffin MSO in Device Manager and original game became playable.
Now I have installed the patch and I get the same error.. but Patin-Couffin is disabled.
BTW-There are real life uses for Pati-Couffin other than BlindWrite.. which I do not have or use. I used Sony software to create DVDs and Patin-Couffin was a useful thing to have... so I do not want to unisnstall it.
Any help here?
[EDIT]
Okay.. I unistalled it and it still doesn't work.
WTF?

That did the trick... thank you.
very odd.
I am still trying to remember why I needed patin-couffin.. well.. I guess I'll find out next time I try to do somehting complicated.
Saw the sticky.
Deactivation and uninstall of “Patin Couffin engine” driver does not stop the error message.
>>If there is no “Patin Couffin engine” listed in the device manager, to correctly uninstall the “VSO Autoplay” driver please download the most current version of it from http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm# (listed under Blindwrite->More details) and install it (reboot), then use Control Panel->Add/Remove Software to uninstall ‘Autoplay 6’. You will need to reboot again afterwards.<<
I am at the site but it is by no means clear what to download or how to download it (I don't want to purchase any of the packages).
I click on download Autoplay and get what looks like basically the same window again since the link is back to the same page - no download.
Demo was interesting and I don't want to tell my boy we have to return the game. Any ideas, anyone?
