View Full Version : campaign scenario 'each his own island'
In the first campaign, second scenario 'each his own island' , there is one ore deposit on the middle island, and no free traders.
I managed to build a mine before my tools ran out, but now there is a rotating question mark above the mine. On the old forum i've read that the mountain has an unlimited ore deposit! How came the question mark gets there????
I guess i have to build a deep ore mine now? Probably don't have the tools to get to that :(
if that is the case, the scenario really ****s! :(
build a 2nd warehouse on another island ..and the flying merchants will come ...
where there any free traders in the scen?
Otherwise it's just to start over, and be very cheap with the tools until you can build a deep mine ;)

No Traders. Just pirates. you have to conserve your tool very wisely, then build a mine then conserve again untill you can reach a deep ore mine.
And no the scen dosnt ****. I think its one of the best in the game acctually.
sy..I meant another scene ..yes ,, there ARE free traders in it
Buy tools for 75 coins ....

@Frieden: I think Luapske means the campaign "New Horizons" (scenarios: Halfway There, To each his own island, Appearances can be deceiving, Hard times - see chapter 1.3.3.b of your scenario catalogue).
There are no Free traders, only pirates. And you have limited tools to build up your economy to produce tools... In addition, you have to save tools to build the deep ore mine. ;)
@Luapske: First, congratulations that you managed to build the small ore mine. :go: A lot of players have big problems to come that far. ;)
The trick is that you need to know that the small ore mine produces only 80t of ore (i.e. max. 160t of tools) - and that you will need 450 citizens to build the deep iron ore mine. So, keep on saving tools, and you will succeed. :)

Timski's Guide (http://www.capsu.org/1602/4.html#walk_18_3) gives a walkthrough for this scen ( I think the link goes to the right one that is being discussed).
There is also there mention of a 50t tools to start with "bug" that required a patch. I am not certain which version it is that needed the patch.
but is the deep ore mine unlimited? or does it has it's limits as well?
that would mean you have to be careful with tools throughout the entire scenario. And that kinda ruins the intro and objective, where it says there are PLENTY ore resources!

I can't remember the details such as limited or unlimited iron mines, but the scenario is winable. You just need to handle the tools in a conservative way.

I have always found the deep ore mines to be unlimited. If there is still ore in the mountain when the small mine runs its course, then the supply is unlimited once you have the deep mine.

Sorry to correct you, but supplies are only unlimited if the scenario is built so. There are three sorts of iron ore mountains: with small ressources (80t, will be fully exhausted by the small ore mine) and with big ones (240t including the 80t you get from the small ore mine, or endless). If the mine is 240t or endless depends on the scenario settings. ;)
@Luapske: Don't worry. That mountain contains endless iron ore... :)

"To each his own island": The whole scenario has NO free traders at all, only pirates will appear after some time.
As usual, the ore mine runs out after it has produced 80t of ore. (This is the case each time in every single scenario. A normal ore-mine never produces more than 80t of iron-ore. You have to know that as an experienced player and to plan on that.) After that you have to build a deep ore-mine. This one is unlimited in this scenario. Once you have built the deep ore-mine you have full and free access to tools by your own production.
Sorry to correct you, Frieden, but the whole scenarios difficulty is just that you have no free traders at all and have to build a 3 large cities (1k inhabitants (or was it even aristocrates?)) with a given amount of ressources for start.
The joke is: You got 5 Big islands. On the middle one is the only ore- and gold-deposit on the map but it has a growth-rate of only 50% for all three goods. Yet, you have to settle on this island or you will run out of tools before you can start your own tool-production. (exactly 2t of tools to less for the tool-maker even if you stick to the absolute minimum, :D......) On each of the other 4 islands one of the goods grows with 100% success-rate. That makes 1 island for tobacco, 1 for alcohol, 1 for cocoa and 1 for spices.
The scenario wasn´t be able to get solved before the patch cuz you had 2t of tool to less even if you sticked to only the middle island. Exactly 3t of tools have been added to the starting-goods with the patch, making the scenario solveable. :).....

BTW that patch was only necessary for the German NINA Add-on. AFAIK the international versions have this patch included. :)

I stand corrected, it had been a while since I had used the editor and I forgot about the middle stage.
