Dear Knights of Honor players,

First of all I got to say, DANG what a cool game, I finally bought it a couple days ago and YAY its so great, most deff worth the waiting.

Ok anyways, my question.

I have started of my first campaign with the province of ulster, I really like its location, its remote, has no enemy's on its side except on one place, so all in all its a good province.
In the mean time I have upgraded my castle and stuff, and for instance I have a plate armorer. But the strange thing is, I am not getting any extra or new units in the unit build screen. I have 5 types of units, peasant, swordman, bowman, spearman, and a local special unit the longbowman. So... the main question is.

How does one get different units, new other units available in the unit build screen of the town??

I looked in the library thing and for instance it said for a halbedier you need a halbedier master smithy and a plate armorer, I got these two buildings and yet, I cant add a halbedier to my marshal or as an unit in my castle plainly because these units are not available in my unit build screen.

Does this have to do with the time line?? like as in I am playing from the year 1000 and like that a halbedier is not available till like 1250 or something?? or what else could it be??

Well I hope someone can tell me how to get these other units.

Hello,

Well, the type of units you can recruit also depends on the town or province. Not every town or province is capable of producing every type of units. For example, Normans can be recruited from Normandy, whereas Heavy Crossbowmen in Catalonia. The same applies for Templars, Tentuonic knights, and so on.

The best way to find out is this.

Go to political map and click the "show units" button. it will show which units can be built in every county. Just click on a unit and it will highlight which provinces can build them and which can if upgrades are built there. :go:

yes there are such units:
Longbowmen for Wales, cataphracts, roman infantry, pronias for Byzantia, man-at-arms and feudal knights for France, Teutonic knights for Teutonic order, Janissares for Ottomans, Mameluks for Mameluks and many more

@LORD_DrDeathhand
Would you find fine if Janisasres would be available in Ulster when all requred buildings are done? if not, so you probably agree that units availability depends on more than just buildings built, but also region and culture of the kingdom(muslim nations f.i. can't buy Templars even in France

Dear Elvain,

Ofcourse not, I mean some units are province or country specific, thats allright with me, but for instance, with halbediers, if I read everything corectly about them, and what is recuired to get them, you need to have a plate armorer and a halberd mastersmithy, well I got all of these buildings and yet, I still do not get the option available to build them, same thing goes for heavy swordmen, and so on, I just am not getting these units in my build list.

So is this because the halbediers and or for instance the heavy sword men are not available in ulster and that isle?? and like only available in the main european continent? or is something going wrong here??

Well please let me know

I don't know, but as I know history, halberdiers were (in middle ages) typical unit for Swiss highlanders and halberd was used by municipal "armies" so I am satisfied with their appereance in Alpine region(Helvetia, Savoy, Alsace, Burgundy, Provence, Lombardy, Bavaria and Tyrolia), Rome, western Spain and Portugal and Saxony

With heavy swordsmen it's more discutable. But as far as I know their availability corresponds mostly with apereance of Feudal knights what mirrors heart of medieval feudal Europe, what I personaly find very logic.
I also think that army consistion of hobilars, swordsmen and longbowmen can give you very good base to conquer some more provinces in Spain or France, where you'll be able to hire continental units

of course, many objectoins can be found in this case of units. I personally see this part of game as one of the most perfectly done.

Certain units will only be availiable in certain regions. This does not include "kingdom specific." If you read my post, the best way to find out where those units can be built is the unit overlay in political view.

To get special unit like teutonic knight, you need to have master swordsmith upgraded from swordsmith, armory, plate armorer, stable and horses. With the exception of horses, all the buildings mentioned must be in the town that you want to build that unit.Horses can be obtained from your other provinces or through trade but I never import as I conquer for resources.
Hope you get the idea which building to build to get certain unit.
