helen i have a dialup - and it would take 8 hours to download a payed for copy of 1602 AD - but i actually here in australia pay a flat fee of $5 AUS per month for unlimited access and then there is dialup costs which is 15c AUS$ - which works out about $10 a month extra - broadband we pay Up to $80 AUS a month
Helen this pay to download option is valid - not many people have 28k modems anymore - that said they would sell a lot of copies via the download option its shipping that is the killer cost these days.
Its just a suggestion - of course they could go freeware as well but webmaster is suffering silence of the lambs at the moment so no response yet. Yes or no no one knows
- what im proposing is paying say 5 euros - i get a confirmation email (would pay by credit card) 24 hours later after paymetn is confirmed i get a automatic email link from where to download the game as well as a user ID and password. I would then log onto this download link which would be individual for every game order - it would be active for one week a 60MB game would take me 8 hours (that is acceptible on a 56k modem) the download link would be valid for 1 week - which gives me long enough to download the game - after which it is automatically destroyed i would also get a specific registration number and Password should i require the game for any reason ie loss of hard drive etc. That reduces shipping and other costs around the world and they might actually sell a lot of copies of 1602 AD if its on their main website.

well, but we in germanx usually pay per minute for the dial-up...so there are also high cost in additiion to the "price" of the game...and you mentioned another importent point.....if you loos your game...how will you prove you had one..or to be more exact, that it is YOU, who had the game and not another guy.....using a password etc...you could give that to some of your friends.....there is no control possible...
Time is money, monstercash.
The time you invested already here is much more money than the price of a couple of 1602-games.
Personally, I do no longer believe that you really wanna buy the game cause your are making always problems and discusions instead of soultions.

actually freiden i am interesting in buying the game but not prepared to pay 30 bucks to ship from the US - i want to find it locally (still watching ebay australia and local trading post classifieds) no luck yet but i dont watn to pay excessive amounts - its the principle of the my suggestions are sunflowers makes it available as pay to download for non european customers (those that dont pay dial up by the minute) and yes there would be a fairly large chunk of customers here in australia nad the US with broadband and flat dial up costs that would use such a service (for europeans its still widley available - point noted helen - not all customers would use the pay to download service but for INTERNATIONAL NON EURO CUSTOMERS) It culd be a cost effective way to distribute the game and get more revenues for sunflowers (now this is on the actual thread so no offtpic comments please folks)
Webmaster has responded so i will give it one month before i come back and ask again (yes im a pest but i get results eventually on my many consumer rights jaunts)
Moryarity there could be control as i said the password and link would be valid only for 1 week - heck not that i do it but once i had a copy i could always burn it as could anyone - that happens anyway = a lot of games PC makers are now using the pay to download (have a look at roninsoft.com for wall street raider and starship traders 3 and smugglers through shrapnel games.) starships unlimited 3.0 is another full version game distributed this way = the other option of course is only making it available from one IP address (that would stop the password problem you mention and if the link goes dead after a week no mater how many people you tell password to you wouldnt be able to get it) you would get a Reg Id that would need to be cross referenced to yorue credit card details before you could get replacement copy etc say youre harddrive goes pop - perhaps a 12 month option after 12 months you need to repay to get game again ?
Oh frieden you always attack me lol lol - the above is a solution to the hard to get nature of 1602 AD (to international australian, asian and new zealand customers) before helen starts again lol.
Other option is freeware.
Oh and webmaster sorry i realise you have no real power with Sunflowers only you mod the forums - its up to the big guys in charge to make a final decision and will take 6-12 months or just be brushed off lol lol.
A simple no we aint doing anything different would be good.
Thanks for the time near confirmation

@monstercash: You do not have customer rights for a game you do not possess. And you cannot demand that Sunflowers should make Anno available for you - for a buying process, both parties (buyer and seller) have to agree. If Sunflowers does not want to sell you a copy, or is not willing to provide a paid download (BTW the money transfer costs as well as tax and legal questions could also be a problem), you cannot do anything.
Concerning the lost ebay auction: The price is formed by supply and demand. If there is a shortage of a good, prices go up. Do you know that effect? ;)

yes roadrunner im fully aware of supply and demand lol - good is in shortage because supplier fails to provide enough copies worldwide - point noted lol
money transfer costs for a credit card payment are only 2.4% (inclu currency conversion) taxes - well guess what non her in australia - its point of sale that is the factor. Now for legal questions what legal questions sunflowers would set up the retail distribution point of sale from their website - it is already done with other game companies / software makers - the online distribution channel - of course its just a suggestion the other alternative is to make this hard to get , 7 year old game that isnt sold much anywhere anymore freeware.

Yes, I know. You are guessing. Just like in the contest thread.
Sunflowers cannot guess. It should first examine the situation, and that includes costs, tax and legal implications of a distribution channel. Maybe it is also necessary to check some other points I am not aware of. Then, there is someone to find who is able and willing to make a decision - and that is probably the most difficult part. These processes will take time, and they would cost money and working time.
Of course, just to please monstercash, Sunflowers works now exclusively at that issue. Anno III? - Why bother about the development of a new game if you can earn some cents from monstercash? Establishing a completely new distribution line is nothing... I even does not cost anything...
Hey, wake up. You are not the only one on earth. Noone at Sunflowers will spend a single cent for Anno1602 anymore. Not for making it available for online selling, not for making it freeware. And if I was the responsible person at Sunflowers, I would reject such projects for the time being after having seen your penetrant behaviour here.
And I can only second that. Please stop, monstercash, it's getting you nowhere, it just annoys people. Please stop. Really.

lol who deleted my thread lol well same as before its up to sunflowers = i dont like being brushed off im a persistant little Bug if you will until i get a yay or a nay. Im going to slow down the number of posts for a fortnight or so and see if anything comes off and then well lets see if we get a response.
A simple no would do - i guess the fact that hasnt happened may be they are considering making it freeware soon ?
