I only MUST ask what company is it and if they want to earn some money when they don't want to distribute such promissing game in the biggest gaming market of this world?
What do they want? to lose their money? who wants that? only silly diletants...

are the people from BSS so numb to their first game that they don't want to know why their distributor doesn't want to release this game in the USA. Do they mind future of their company? Why did they signed contract with such ********(censored by Elvain) company which disables them to break through?
And why the hell don't they want to know the reason?

if BSS is numb about this game, I and this comunity isn't.

Can you, Webi or anybody from SF ask somebody from EA for statement WHY they decided not to publish KoH in the US?please?

^you're right. I know for sure many Americans would flock to this game if it wasn't so hard to acquire.

Well I n have already shown this game to some of my co-workers and they want it too, given ideas how the game works and many think it is much better the MTW...but i haven't played MTW so I am not sure about it,but I do know that this game rocks

I have to agree to the fact that EA has refused to publish Koh in the USA is BS. This game has to expand to a bigger market if its to succeed, if not this game will die.

How about someone writes a petition to EA (there's some petition website I saw in an earlier thread about multiplayer-Europe games)? Lots of people here would sign it, I'm sure.

I think the most effective route would be to spread awareness of KoH to non-European gamers by posting at major game forums like "gamespy", "ign", etc. Doing so would create more people willing to sign a petition for at least N. American release.

Sounds like a great idea. WE AMERICANS WANT KOH IN NORTH AMERICA comeon EA There is alot of interest for this game here. I have showed this game to couple friends and they fell in love with it. I'm sure that if this game was a little more comercialised, and brought to US it would take MTW, and Battle for middle earth aout of the market. Koh is the best game I have ever seen, and has the potential to be the best of the best RTS game.

This discussion is useless.

I have already told the developers that they could have tried Strategy First as a distributor, since EA only holds the European distribution rights. I hope SF did not sell the sole distribution rights for KoH to EA... hopefully.

two problems with a release of KoH in NA right now.

A) Absolutely no press of knowledge of this game outside this forum in the US. SF never bothered with trying to get any "media time" for the game.

B) It will not sell now. Not with AoE3, Battle for Middle Earth, Stronghold 2, Half Life 2, etc... out this year. Import will remain the only problem... (BTW, US gamers like having more than one "Map" to play on as well... another problem with KoH)

Like I said, a good way the average Joe who likes KoH and wants to see it distributed outside of Europe to spread awareness of KoH would be to become a (hopefully respected) member of forums for major gaming sites like gamespy, ign, gamespot, etc. Send emails to writers. Be persistent, but not annoying.

This I can understand. Q3 or 4 2005 would be better time for release and that would probably be the best timeframe one could ask for if we (the players) spread knowledge of KoH elsewhere.

Something you folks forget is that Electronic Arts picks and chooses which games to promote.

EA also has their own game division. It is called EA Games. They develop their own games, and those games compete with third party games like KoH.

It would have been so much more lucrative if SF went with a different distributor, but there's no changing that.

Like I said before, even if KoH gets a NA release, it will never be able to compete with the newer games like Age of Empires 3 and Stronghold 2. KoH had one shot, last fall... Now, it's going to pass into "that quaint little European game that almost could" category. You know... sorta like what happened to Anno 1602, which is found as bargain bin material. :/

@ the fans spreading the word. Some tried this. The devs even had a small article on ign's website. The game got some press. When it came time for release, the gamers who wanted KoH from reading the REVIEW, in NA looked for the game and found it NOWHERE except some obscure European website that exported it.

Unless the company that is PROMOTING the product puts out a conscious effort to promote their product, no comsumer is going to be able to find it. I could release a product called the toothpick holder. If I only distribute this product on my street, what likelyhood is it that somebody living in France will find out about it? ZILCH!

Anyways... Here's hoping that SF will ditch EA and go with a better distributor *cough*Strategy First*cough* for KoH2, if they get that far.

they(makers of koh) are only hurting themselves by waiting so long to release in America
this game is already becoming well known and many Americans are just d/l'ing via bittorrent
for free.. then mounting it with a virtual cd imager(daemon tools) it seems that the makers knew this would happen as they put a block on where the game wouldnt run unless there is no cd image software on your pc.. but that only made it more of a challenge and more people to find a way to play so within weeks a no-cd crack was released so that it could be played with daemon tools installed .. I got to ODU(college) in America and I already know of about 40 people just at my college who play this game and are playing it because they d/l'ed it for free.

maybe if the developers would get off their asses and release it over here they could make alot of money.. but no now instead they have it all over the p2p networks and a nice little no-cd crack to go along with it.

what a shame

The developers do not hold the distribution rights. The distribution rights for non-german distribution are property of Electronic Arts. They are the ones to be asked for US distribution.

maybe people from EA wanted many Americans to download it for free  maybe they have many friends there and they helped them with cracks...
they have many other games to be released there.

**** EA!!!!
BSS should **** them and ask for some penalty...

Just to make the things clear...

EA has the distribution rights for Europe only. The rights for US belongs to Sunflowers. They need to sign a deal with US distributor/publisher for KoH to be seen at the other side of the Ocean.

that's what I thought.
Is there any way BSS can "influence" Sunflowers to release it in the US through a different distributor like Strategy First?

Strategy First distributes all sorts of games over here. And they do not discriminate to 3rd party developers...

Are there any Sunflower people on here besides Webby? yer from BSS, Nadine is from SF? Frank left. :(

The only reason why I stop posting in this thread was that I didn't want to flame sunflowers on their own boards. But now when everything seems to go bad due to their decissions, I have no reason not to do so....

I rather lose "title" of squire modder and keep my modds for myself only than be quiet when sunflowers f***s everything up
