View Full Version : [en] is this forum dead ??? ;(
I am dissapointed the German and English off-topic sections (A.K.A The Royal Inn & whatever it was in German) got merged together. I am not opposed to blended forums, but we had all gotten used to not having to filter through all the numerous posts looking for the ones in the language we used.
IMO that is the only bad change!

for this change was a vote and the majority was for the merging!
but to reflect this language mixing, we have a plan ;)
just put an [de] or [en] in the thread name. i will discuss this with the mods, so that all threads get tagged here.
With you talking only about the "old generation" of users one might think that you don't like the new members, those who have come with the Anno 1602/Technomage sections....?
Yes.
The 1602ers and the TM'lers are much older than the yuppies and newbies from Koh
When we started playing 1602 or TM the KoH'lers were still playin with dolls and toy cars
Seriously now, I think it was a great idea to put 1602 + Koh + TM togehter. I know this already from Ascaron (http://www.ascaron-forum.de/ubbthreads.php). many games and only one site. Cheap and effective advertising too :go:

@Karima
always when you see "familiar" beggining of something that evolved into something bigger and less familiar, you will get disappointed and will remember of "good old times".
forum has changed and there are many new good members...but they're not such "family". Understand?
Well, it is very difficult to become a member of your family, if you do not feel welcome.....I for myself felt very welcome..Webbi was very nice to us, when we moved here...but now that I read this thread, I don´t know what to think....maybe it is because I do not play your game, but in the Webmasters Inn was room for general dicussions between all boardmembers, not depending on which game they play..and we had great disussions..and got one family I think...
I completely agree with Moryarity. It seems like you hardly give anyone a chance to join you!

I'm not disappointed as much as @t.k.sword

That's ceratinly right. But still, instead of lamenting, you could try to change things to the better, even if that means to chnage it to how it has been before, couldn't you?

this forum has changed to much i barely come here because its not so anymore as it used to be
But at least you DO come.
I haven't seen many people here for long.
For example Noldy.
He wasn't online for a loooong time.
I am very glad that the 3 games were brought together (for one thing it renewed my interest in 1602), as I said the only thing I regretted was the merging of the off-topic sections. (Is it possible to bring the 1503 community into this one? Then I truly would have only one forum to visit.)
@ Webmaster, I am hip to your plan of the DE or EN in the title of the post. But do I understand you correctly, that you are going to have the Mod's go through the forum and tag all current threads with these notations? If so that will make evrything alright. There were some game threads that had very similar titles, but were different languages.
Also could we stress that if a thread is tagged with a language indicator, that all responses be in the language indicated?
Thanks

We had suggested the same on the 1503 board some time ago and were taught that it's impossible due to incompatible software. :frown:

first off , its not my bussiness asking people why they dont post anymore , because i know people dont just run off with out a reason , second= you have my warmest welcomes , but we cant just let new members right after they joined get into the forum family , it takes time to get to know each other better , and become friends and so on , the same progress in real life , its like leting a total stranger that you never seen before enter your home, which you dont even know a thing about. . its not that i have something against new members , it takes time to get familar with people , you would most surelly react same if you were in my siitosion.

The old 1602 board's software was also incompatible, but apparently that didn't matter. They just made them start all over again. :bawling:

But you complain, that the family got lost...but according to yourself it is your own problem, that you need time to let us become a member of your family..so you shouldn´t complain about it..
The family is not lost. Family members come and family members go. Some drop in from time to time. Some leave forever. But the community is forever there and the family is continually changing. The combining of the three boards is no different than new people joining the former single game forum. There were always new people joining the family. This is no different, I enjoy being a part of a growing family, it makes me feel like a big brother.
To All, Welcome to my family!

no thats not my problem im sure that there is more to agree , because even we the gurdian divsions of the forum had to get accepted by the those how was to first enter this forum , now were called the old guard and belong to the old generation . im sure more people here has to accept new members so they could enter the family , you will have to stay a while. yourc all welcome to be a part of this family but stay a bit so we get to know you better :go: :go: .

i'll ask the questions later ... got a company from munich today and need desperatly fetch some äppler ;)
Hmmm... I really miss the old forums and the people from there... I wonder if anybody still remembers the real oldies like Arjenvs or Pikeman - they were here even before "the old guards". I think that only Elewyn/Elvain is left from the Pre-Historic times. Actually, I find a strange resemblance between the real worlds history and the history of the forum. In the Beginning there was darkness. Then the Gods from Sunflowers and BSS created the forum and soon it's first inhabitants came. The world was still primitive and no culture was yet created, but people were close and they started the foundation of the first civilization. The world was divided on three parts (General, Q&S and The Royal Inn) and the people spoke one language. It were happy times! The Gods visited the mortals often and peace was upon the land...
PS. Will be continued when I have time!
PPS. Btw why don't we create a story like "The Forums Chronicles" for example? "Love & Schemes" was fun... in a certain sense!
PPPS. Now I give myself an explanation why is it so hard for us to get used to the new ones - they have a different culture! They've created their own culture which is different than ours. And we'll need some time to get used to that. They'll need some time to get used to us, too. I guess we're acting like some old grumpies murmuring for the old times...

I'm not complaining. I just said what is a fact: small forum with 500 members(and about 20 active) was like a family. No bigger forum can be. Just because there is sooo many people.
But to be honest (and speaking only for myslef) I really like all you TM and ANNO members!! I like to chat with you here because you all are interesting people!
Only it's not that small "family comunity", that's all. Also I miss here some good people like Henrik, Cork2, Finallach and Gorgoroth, Arjenvs("the first who had left us") and some others...
i like the forum as it is, that's why I opposed to the knightly that this forum is not dead.
Have a  everybody

yes and yes i belivive you really know the story , your 2 one of the old ones if you could take a look at your join date , im from those who came a time later . could you remeber those times when we the first pics of koh ?, well those was wonderfull times we thought this game was great , well thats onkly meomries , i wish a could turn thre clock back  . we were a great coummunity . we all these are now ruins , now this community is just remains of what it was so sad   .
Yes, I also was here before there were even 100 members (joined the first month the board was up). Then the only language allowed to be used was English, no other language was allowed until they opened a separate section for the Deutsch community.
The big difference between now and then is the game of KoH was new to us all and lot's of questions and suggestions being made. Now the game is old hat and most of the ones from that time still hanging around are the ones that enjoyed mostly The Royal Inn and its off-topic discussion and games.
