Generally, you can post more games, and why you like them, what is the reason, why you like them.

When this isn't Sunflowers-specific I'll move this to the Webmasters Inn.

Lieblingsstrategie allgemein in Strategiespielen?

In Age of Empires II, I usually take the Mongols for some SERIOUS hitting-and-running

Top strategy game? - Hm, I remember only older ones: Earth 2150 (especially The Moon Project), GroundControl I (saving the game is poor: you can do that only after you have finished a mission; but the game is great), Homeworld I and Homeworld Cataclysm.
I love Civilization III :)

I nearly always use a cunning masterplan to overwhelm my enemies with a minimum of loss and a maximum of pain for their followers.
You don't see me, you don't know I'm there, and the other moment your troops are slaughtered, your fields salted and your towns pillaged. :go:
Any resistance is fuitle.

Must be your mod powers
Age of Empires II is my all time favorite. I most often choose the Byzantines, they have capability of most of my favorite units. I hate having the French and the British as opponents. The French because of their propensity to use Bombard cannons and the British because of their stinking Longbowmen. They both play heck with my defensive strategies.

Byzantines are okay, but I think they have TOO MANY techs, it's like looking for a sick tree in a forest, trying to get the good ones out of it.
My favorites are : Franks ( that's what my name is about  ) , Celts, Chinese and Mongols. Mongols only in team multiplayer, because they make an awesome strike force.

Teutons are my favourite, with the Teutonic Knight being the strongest unit of all.

We are the Borg; resistance is futile

Age of Empire I and II are better , specially II. :bday:
I'm playing civilisation III now, and It seems to me, that is one of the top games.
The strategies with historical backgroud are very popular.

Teutons are okay, except they're German so I don't choose them
Personally I like their defensive power...Teutonic Knights are excellent units, but you can't build an army around them ( expensive ) That's why I like the Celts and Chinese, because you can build an army around Cho Ku No and Ang Lee Na Jo Lee...eeeehm...Woad Raiders.

I am a defensive/builder strategist. In most games i try to expand, build up my economy and my defenses and have the best diplomatic contacts. I almost never declare war.
As for the battle strategy, it really depends on many things such as terrain, frontiers and so on. Generally however, i try to find the weak point and focus on that one. With two armies i may launch an attack with one having the order to distract the enemy while the main army will attempt to take over a specific goal...once conquered, the place is secured and defences increased. If the enemy doesn't want peace, i'll keep with the same tactic. If the enemy becomes just too small, there is no diplomacy anymore and i'll integrate it's territories into my Empire.
top strategy games now:
Knights of Honor
Master of Orion 3
Celtic Kings (no diplomacy here  )
Spartan / Gates of Troy
Emperor: rise of the middle kingdom
Birth of the federation
Crusader Kings

I've played just MOO I and II but not III  , are there many differencies between II and III.
I remember another game - Heroes Knight and Magic I, II, III, ..., What you say about this one?
Has anybody experience with cossacs? Siedlers? Tropico? Lords III?
nice day
