:bash: I have started playing Linde's old contest again and I'm confused as usual! I know that you need 1000 residents and 50 tools to finish the scenario but my problem is I start running out of everything about half way through it. What do I need to do to have plenty of food, booze, tobacco and other stuff, without using all my tools and stuff ??

Is 50 tools so hard to get fast, really  ? You cant build farms without tools and that stuff  But what about building 2 tool maker 2 stone masons or maby 3? Well i dont know really , i thinks thats the only way to get it faster. :go:
One thing, why should we give tips to the enemy , when its a contest  Just kidding :go:
And it so sad that we no longer have access to the old board to check out all the hints and tips that were offered back when the contest was going on.

Well...
The beginning is one of the hardest parts in this contest. If you run out of tools, you chose the wrong place for your warehouse. BTW you also need 10 ships for finishing the scenario.
@Easter Bunny: This is one of the hardest scenarios I know - and it is brilliant. Try it, but I'd recommend it only if you are an Anno expert...

Those tips didn't help me. They were all in German. We did have a thread though when a few of us did the scene later.
@mama - Are you on the first, second or third part of the contest? As I rememeber the ore mine is a small deposit and you need to watch the tools that you use. One way is to build the farms ahead of time and let them collect the goods needed in the markets. Another would include a feature where you stop the market carts from collecting the goods for a period of time. I think I used both in the first part.
Also remember, a pioneer house only costs wood to build and has up to 2 pioneers per house.

I'm on the first part where you have to have a 1000 residents and 1 aristocrat and 50 tools in the store house. By the time I keep the people fed and drunk and smoked up, I'm out of tools (even with the deep mine!) :bash:
I stash 50 tools in the beginning as soon as I get the deep mine and build 2 cocoa plantations and 2 spice plantations, which gives me no where enough of those two items. Should I build farms or cattle ranches or just fishing huts???

The cattle combo's give you a lot of food for just 5 tools and a drought doesn't bother them. This is a plus in this scene.
The goods are needed to upgrade but not to maintain.
I had to start to replay this after you brought it up. That start is tricky!

1 cocoa and 1 spice plantation will do, I think - you'll need only a few tons (1-4) for upgrading... ;)

Ok what have I done wrong??? I have 10 ships,50 tons of tools(in the warehouse), 16 tons of jewerly and 1010 people (not counting my workers). With my workers I have over 1178. I can't get any of the merchants to upgrade to aristocrat! :bash: :bash:

Click on a merchant's house and you will see the icon of what they are missing. You did not mention clothes if I am not wrong...

They have 15 tons of clothing, bare minium of spices and cocoa(enough they are not crabbing about it),16 tons of jewerly, 30 tons of booze and 20 tons of tobacco, 100 tons of wood, 20 tons of stone,10 ships of various sizes and as I said 59 tons of tools. And 35 tons of food.

what version of anno u have? Maby there is bugs , thats have to be repaired , in that case try download the newest patch to anno A.D

As the U.S. Gold version is up to date, no patches should be installed.
I think the problem may be cocoa and spice. You need full supply with all goods for upgrading to aristocrats; if your cart pushers get the goods ton by ton, they are consumed before there is full supply. So, disable the option for market carts to get goods until the plantation storages for spices and cocoa are full (in fact, that was one of the rare scenarios where that option played a role). Then, switch to lowest game speed and enable that option again. That way, you will get 4 or 5t cocoa and spices at once, and that amount will probably be enough for upgrading...

@Easter Bunny: I'd rather suggest to try that scenario yourselves, you can find it here (http://www.annopool.de/comment.php?dlid=162&PHPSESSID=eb18fa8db98662980bace9b38606deda#comm). If you take mamawagonburner's savegame, you will see the solution of that great Anno puzzle...
