Well, if I think about hybrid turn based with real time than the best for me is Lords of the Relm 1&2
Lords of Magic
and Medieval:Total War...
About typically turn based games:
Master of Magic
Civilization 1,2,3
Space Empires 4
Master of Orion 1,2
Age of Wonders 1,2
Disciples 2

Yeah, I think MTW can be played in the campaign mode, without actually playing the battles, it makes for a fun turn based game.

I also like the Heroes of Might and Magic series, and Age of Wonders. But I never did play them very seriously.

I never played the first version of civilization, but I've spent a lot of time with Alpha Centauri.

The only turn-based strategy I ever play were Age o Wonders 1 and 2 and Shadow Magic add-on. And I mainly played these games because I am a fantasy freak, other than that I hate turn-based style. The only other turn-based game I really liked was Fallout.

Actually, most turn based games I like a board games. Diplomacy and Empires in Arms are fun.

I played and I think this game ****s, especially battles. IMO the battles are one of most horrible battles which I ever seen...
And this game hadn't this 'magic feelings', which have previous Warlords games...

almost forgot: i once got my hands on warlords2 deluxe; i played that game untill the cd was worn out...simplicity at its best!

Yes, I remember in loooong time ago Warlords2 and Civilization 1 was my favourite strategy games . Only Lords of the Realm 1 with dignity was replace those old games and absorbed all of my 'strategic' mind;)...This is another point that good strategy doesn't need super 3D graphics, but thinking...Many people still play in old good strategies...
