Does anyone know if there are plans to add more maps or a seperate random map generator? Now THAT would be awesome!!! :go:

Welcome to the forum, KingBobCat.
Actually, there was a random (battle)map generator. But as it seems the random maps weren't so good as the predefined ones.

Is there anyway to mod the map? It would be pretty cool if we could create some different maps for other areas (Japan and China come to mind... or GRR Martin's Westeros).

Well, try it. There is no one who tried it before you.

Thank you for your welcome, I am happy to be here. My question arises from the fact that it would be so nice to play a shorter game of KoH once in a while. If anyone remembers back to Lord of the Realm 1 & 2 (I don't even want to talk about #3!), there were various maps of different sizes and therefore, different game length. This game is PERFECT for something like that! Also, it would be cool to just conquer England, France, Germany, and so on. :hello:

I would totally have to agree with kingbob. Alot of the games these days have huge maps which take a long time to beat. That was something that I liked about Lords 2 was the variety of maps. With most of these games I dont have the time to beat these huge maps. The smaller ones can be challenging and they dont take hours upon hours to beat. Would ba a cool thing to check out or make.

agree.
Random Map generators with options to choose nations, units, would be really nice.

New options would definitely be fun... but alternatively you could set your own smaller victory goals such as unite Scandanavia or England or Spain or... and then quit; if you can stop yourself there :-)

Yeah, I agree that you could stop short, just conquering an specific area, but there is really something to be said for "finishing" a game. It gives you a real feeling of accomplishment! Also, the larger a map is, the more difficult it is to deal with micromanaging/optimizing each seperate town. I do appreciate that resources are randomized in each game at least. :bday: Still think more maps would be awesome!

I just dont think the 2 modes in Quickbatle is enough.
The battle mode is very fun and they should have made Map Generator for more quickie battles!!!!
They did the hard job of making battles fun but how could they forget simple Map Generator that Every PC strategy game has?????

There may be random map generators around, but they fail to create nice battlefields. When you are the leader of an army you search for good battlefield with lots of space and the possibility to use the terrain. It is very hard to make a random map generator create realistic maps that are good battlefields.
As far as I know there was a random map generator around in the far past (sometime in winter 2003) but it would have needed too much time.
But perhaps, in an addon, who knows?

Where Can I find the Random Map generator??

I dont need much. I just want to be able to CHOOSE MY OWN NATION AND TROOPS for quick battles.

I really hope Devs come up with free Random Map generator included in patch 2.

1. The unfinished map generator may be on some harddisk at Black Sea Studios, Bulgaria, Sofia, or it's just a rumor.
2. Do not in any case expect a second patch or, may god prohibit, new features in a patch.

Stuie,
Changing the realm shapes may be tricky. Elvain and Frujin talked about this briefly before Christmas last year in the modding forum thread http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?t=3255 post#13 & 15

If you can figure out how a LOT of people would be interested

Alternatively BSS could give up ALL their secrets and release the tools for the modders to play with. :hello:

Thanks Baghera! I'll check out that thread.

I did (and continue to do) a bunch of modding for Rome: Total War. I'm interested in seeing what's possible with KoH....

I am surprised that more people haven't chimed in on this subject.... Anyone know of any plans or a mod community?
