Yeah, an army that has more than 360 men in it! 360 men isn't an army, just a peice of one, Not very realistic. thousands would be nice. :cool:

yeah..Having an army of 120 to 520 is laughable..Italked about tthis to angryminer i think and he answered that it would not be possible to put more men cause you couldn't see all of them on the map during battles...

Well, look at the battlefields of KoH. Place 4 armies on them.
Quite full, eh?
Did you realize that these are only 1500 soldiers?
Now imagin 10 000 soldiers?
Most likely you wouldn't even see the ground between the soldiers. :wink:

I tend to imagin that one soldier represents 10 real soldiers. Just summed up to give me a better overview.

also imagine that armies are 10x larger, so battles would last much longer and it would move the stress of the game on games. I think this number of soldiers is ideal for a part that battles are planed to have in the game.

The solution is to go play Rome: Total War

i don't want to play rome Total war but KOH and i think the solution for the big armies as Angryminer mentionned would be like 1 soldir would represent 100 or something like that is that possible to do so ?

You can't physically make it like that but use your imagination and think that that's it. But just think also in the battle mode, you only have one knight and he shows up so there can't be ten of him.

And R:TW also proves that it's not the solution.
Okay, there are lots of soldiers. But the overview suffers from that.

What I just did yesterday evening was simply double the size of every regiment. This doesnt bring it into the thousands, but it sure looks better ;).

In GoG-1.5 I multiplied the amount of troops per squad by 1.5 (that means: 45 swordsmen/squad instead of thirty). The overview suffers very little, but it looks nice. :viking:

So how do you change the size. I ajusted the numbers in the unit txt/ini's. Or maybe I screwed up. I checked the following folders below and nothing.

defs\Units\Military\Units.xls
defs\Units\Military\army_units.in2
defs\Units\Military\Units.txt
defs\Units\Military\bonuses.ini
defs\Units\Military\army_units.in2

Also if you want to change a unit's stats do you do it in the unit.xls or unit.txt?

One last thing in the army_units.in2 its listed

[unit_2]
typeid = swordsman
label = units;swordsman
def_id = swordsman
add = 30
cost = 200g 50f
require = barracks

Is the add = 30 the unit size?

no. It is in units.xls and units.txt (defs/units/military)

change it in units.xls and copy to units.txt. The game reads it from units.txt

see "squad size" column

I posted it went away and figured it out. Yea i found out its in the Units.txt. It was tricky trying to figure out which spot dose what in the .txt since the colloms dont match up, but next time I will try the copy and paste.
Thanks for the tip.

I made the armies twice the size and it makes for some fun battles I highly recommend it. :go:

But on a side note is there a way to copy from eXcel to txt so it copies normally so its the same as txt.

how long does the battle now last?
It must be more than twice longer I suppose...

I just did a random battle and my auto save is for 15 min and it saved onece so I would say 15 min. But I am doing some testing on units at the same time so I'm taking my time on battles. Their alot more fun to play just watching most of the men group up in one area and have them make one big ball of chaos, with arrows flying from every direction, horses trying to join or flank. Pretty cool to watch.

Aww forgot is there a way to change the rate of fire for units, or dose everything shoot at the same rate. I watched a treb and archers shoot in a siege and it seems they shoot at the same pace, so their might not be a rate of fire. Any idea?

I don't know. There was some request for lowering the frequency of ballista (which really is deadly). I think that Aesenius did that, but he's away for some long time now :sad: and I really don't know. Try it yourself :go:

Hi all,big armys can you easly have!!You must only change the squadnumber in the Units textdokument .But over 60 mens per squads isnt good for playing.
