I see Stronghold mentioned a lot. Please tell me what the attraction is. I have the first one and played through several missions, but didn't find it interesting on any level. The graphics were uninspired. The castle building was kind of boring. The battles were crap (I remember watching spearmen, who looked like little vaguely human shapes with toothpicks, destroy my palisade without any siege equipment. What was the palisade good for?) What am I missing?

for rtw players i reccomend this great mod rtr-rome total realism , its historcly much more accurate then the orginal rome total war , it has alots of features such as:more accurate history ,new historical units , many more buildings , more mercenries, more extended towns,provincal campagin (your able to play all the factions discluding senate) and alot more.

it only requires 1.2 patch to be installed and the latest main version of the rtr mod . here is the link

Yeah, I play the latest RTR after I got tired of Barbarian Invasion. There's a new mod in development called Chivalry: TW. Looks awesome but not completed yet! The graphics of 3-D knights have me drooling. :eek:

I really like the city builder games like Caesar III and Pharaoh. CivIII was good fun and I've played more Master Of Orion II than I can sanely admit to. Galactic Civilizations is excellent as well. The Age Of Wonders games I had a lot of fun with too.
Since coming to KoH I've heard a great deal of mentioning made about Crusader Kings, and I'm curious. I prefer strategy games that are more empire management, building up, diplomatic relations and so forth rather than constant warring to advance one's kingdom. Is CK like that? It's the impression I get, but I really hate buying games without being able to test them out via a demo first (particularly strategy games).
