too stupid to mod

hi, i tried modding but i dont even know where to start i jus wanna play around with the units and kings names and stuff like that...all i wanna no is how to get to these files ill figure out the rest myself. I've been reading the forums but all the files you guys are talking about i dont have, i only have the pak files and if those are it what do i do with them and how do i open them. thnx in advance

Click on them with and select "open with" and choose wordpad.

1. Extract the pak-files with Tempest's pakman (Can be found on the forums)
2. Open the extracted files in notepad or the editor or whatever you like.
