I have Knights of Honor, AoE, AoE2, and that's about it. I was wondering what other medieval/crusader/knightly games that I should look at. I have heard of Stronghold, Stronghold Crusaders, and Stronghold 2, as well as Crusader Kings. Please name some more games and tell me which ones (including the ones I have listed) are any good or not.
Thanks! :go: :hello:

Yeah, I'd be interested too. I love Knights Of Honor, its really got me hooked. Be interesting to see what other gamers played alongside/before/after KoH.

FYI - I got KoH as I was looking for a replacement for the 'classic' Populous ( )(5000+ levels) that I used to have on my Sega Master System! I also have AoE II

An worthy successor it is too! :go:

I loved it, but its a bit out of date now! You can get the PC version, but i never liked it as much - they changed too many things. Koh is way better anynow - as I said "a worthy successor" :go:

Well, not specificly medievel. It changes time line per map / level. (or the original did at least).

Populous! I had it for the MS too and I loved it, never quite got anywhere near the 5000th level, found a code by accident once that got me to 800 or something, and it was way too hard for me at that age. What a game though, they don't make classics like that anymore.

To address the original subject of this thread, I own or have played EU, EU2, and Crusader Kings (all by Paradox), and MTW. These are the games specific to the Medieval period. Also RTW (the RTR mod), which is similar but obviously set during Roman times, and Rise of Nations, which includes the Medieval Era as one of many.

Of the Medieval-only games, I believe KOH has the potential to be the best of the bunch if something is done with the AI. I am going to try GoG 1.6 and cross my fingers that that does it. EU, EU2, and CK were decent but far too buggy even after patches. MTW/RTW give a completely different experience, better on the battlefield but less grand strategy. RON is the best multiplayer IMHO.

Just my two cents.

stronghold 2, stronghold are good. Might look into Medieval total war, or rome total war, lords of the realm, lords of the realm 2, lords of the realm 3, warcraft, warcraft 2, warcraft 3, im sure i have more but those are the only ones i peeked at on my shelf.

I don't know if you could get medieval total war anymore, I don't know how old it is but ive seen screenshots and it looks old enough that it wouldn't be sold anymore.

DId anyone play Powermonger? It was made by Bullfrog, same company who made Populous originally, and I thought it was pretty cool. It was one of the first 3d strategy games I've ever played, you lead an army through several missions, pillaging viallges and recruiting troops along the way. If you like Populous, check it out.

The Stronghold Series is excellent! I own all 3, SH, Crusader and SH2 and think they are magnificent. CastleStrike is a very good medieval RTS as well. AoE2 plus Conquerors Expansion is the original RTS classic, as far as I am concerned. KOH is good, but I really wanted the "Play on Europe" to be available in Multi-Player, because Single Player in any of these games can get to be a little boring after a while. Playing against humans is far more interesting! :)

Knights of Honor is the best medieval strategy game in my opinion.

Other games with a medieval theme that I have played and enjoyed in the past are: Medieval Total War, Age of Empires II, Stronghold Crusaders, Europa Universalis II, Wars & Warriors: Joan of Arc.

Some games I have picked up in the bargain bin but haven't gotten around to playing yet: Europa 1400, The Settlers: Heritage of Kings, Castle Siege.

Good games with medieval/fantasy theme: Kohan Series, Black Moon Chronicles, Age of Wonders II, Warcraft Series, Disciples II, Warlords IV.

Medival Total War and the expansion Viking Invasion are excellent games depicting the era. Battles involve hundreds to thousands of troops and the history is very well done. You can probably pick up for a song at Amazon. Heck I still play it!

I like Knights of Honor, but to call it a strategy game is false in my opinion. Way too easy to be considered that. lol

I have beaten MTW and have Stronghold II but just can not seem to really get into it. There are two paths. Peace and war. But the map seems way to small to me and does not resemble any real land mass.
