I haven't seen anyone else asking this so it is probably pretty obvious but... How do you get two marshalls to attack at the same time (with the player controlling)?

With castles it is easy to set seige until both Marshals are there then start an assault with you leading. When I march two armies at an enemy in the open field, however, even if they are RIGHT on top of one another, only my 1st Marshal engages the enemy.

Do I have to set the option "pause while in battle" off?

Thank you in advance for your wonderfully informative responces

Step-by-step:
Search the picture of your marshall in the upper left corner in the battle-view. Look at the the circular slot just right from his picture. Click at it. Click the available army in the direction and click "Ok". Wait for your reinforcements to arrive.

In this (http://www.knights-of-honor.net//gfx/screenshots/scr_koh_0183.jpg) screenshot you can see that the italian king (see his image in the upper left corner) has no reinforcements called, because the slot right from his picture is empty. Clicking at that empty slot wiould open the reinforcements-screen.
On the right side you can see that the byzantines have called for reinforcements and they have already arrived, so the second marhsall slot on the upper right corner is used.

I hope that helps. :go:

Thanks Angryminer. Sounds simple enough... but I can make anything complicated

Does the 2nd marshal have to be operating under any specific orders to become a reinforcement?
ie. Does he have to be marching to this battle already, can he be in camp nearby, can he just happen to be marching nearby? If "nearby" is the answer (seems unlikely but you never know) how close does he have to be? does his distance from the fight determine how long it takes for him to get there?

1. All nearby armies that are currently not involved in fighting (be it a battle or plundering) can be called as reinforcements.
2. "Nearby" means about the distance of a town to the province's borders, for example. (Note: The reinforcing army can be in another province, I just used this example to express the distance.)
3. The closer the army, the faster it will arrive on the battlefield.

Does it work for both modes whether battles pause or don't pause?

It works for both.
