I'm running Windows 64 and keep getting an error when starting the game that I need to turn off my anti-virus and any debugging tools.

I have made sure that that is the case. I'm guessing that the full game is not compantible with Win 64, but the demo is.

Anyone get it work with Win 64?

The exact message is:

"Conflict: a kernel problem has occurred. Please disable all Anti-Virus programs and debuggers"

Thanks,
Irong

I had one that was just like that except the kernel word. I turned off Spysweeper and it worked for me. It's probably an anti-virus program so try turning one off at a time and you should find it, or at least I did. Also, it would crash with the SpySweeper program update so if it crashes even when Spysweeper is off, you have to unistall and reinstall the program (SpySweeper) and never download the update (at least for now). Hope this helps!

Does Windows 64 ship with a standard-debugger?

This error-message usually appears when a process tries to "hook" KoH and do something fancy with it. That is usually a crack (or anti-virus-program) and will cause KoH to stop working. Perhaps this helps you with finding the source yourself, though the kernel-error never appeared here with 32-bit OSes, so this might be a windows 64-related problem.

Thanks for the replies.

It must just be Win 64. I shut down every process and service that was optional for Windows to run. Still got the same error.

Using dual boot, I am able to play the game on the same machine with Anti-Virus running. Go figure.

Maybe a future patch will be out to correct the incompatibility.

Thanks,
G

Does windows 64 have any backward-compatibility-features like the so-called "emulation" in 32bit Windows Xp? It might be worth to give that a try.

Yes it does, but still no dice. It does not give the error I mentioned earlier, but it promptly gives me the usual message about sending the error to MS.

This weekend, I am going to install x64 on a different PC adding only the video and chipset drivers to see if it will work on different hardware and as close to as possible bare OS.

I'll let you know the result.

Thanks again,
G

Just to update you all......built a test PC with a fresh build of x64. With the latest chipset and video drivers, I still received the same error message. No other software was installed.

Strange, but I guess something in the code somewhere just does not like x64.

can u plz provide us a dxdiag log and the koh analysislog by email (dxdiag@sunflowers.de)

dxdiag log you get by running: start -> run -> "dxdiag" ENTER -> save information

analysislog is a bit more work:
- insert disk 2
- change to bin directory
- rightmouseclick on knights.exe
- choose launch analysis
- press ok (language maybe german or french)
- result will be saved under disk c:\analysislog.sr*

It is Windows 64 bit. I won't have a copy of Longhorn beta for a little while yet, but will test it on that too when I can.

I will get the logs to you soon.

Thanks,

I ran the dxdiag and sent it to the address you provided.

When trying to run the other log and following the steps you mentioned, I could not proceed with step 4. After right clicking, there was no option to run the log. Maybe I missed something, but I went through the steps several times.

I'm guessing US since I'm in the US.

Is there a way to tell for sure?

if you have a red box with paradox logo you've got the US version

That's great. Once you have something to try, let me know.

BTW......I do have the red box with the Paradox logo, so it is the US version .
