I would be interested to hear your thoughts on other games, not just a list of games you like but those rare games that you find time to play and wouldn't dream of deleting from your hard drive.

Does anyone play KoH exclusively for instance? and why?

As for myself, i have 7 games and i dabble with all of em. I'm not sure if i have a favorite but here are the ones that still hold my attention.

KoH ... obviously

Heroes of Might and Magic 4 ... I read that it wasn't as good as HOMM 3, but i believe it's better. I don't even care about the lack of a hex grid anymore. I enjoy developing my heroes.

Gates of Troy ... This might be one of my favorites. I once owned Chariots of War which i loved. I gave it away when i bought Gates of Troy ????? but at least Gates of Troy is just as good.

Zues Master of Olympus ... The best of it's kind in my opinion but for some reason it's the game i least play. I may go back to it.

Sacred ... Like Diablo only with better graphics. I like the fact i can go anywhere. I know it's a simple game, but hey, if i enjoy it, that's good enough for me.

Age of Mythology ... I bought this to replace Red Alert 2 as an online game. Both games have that auto find a player thing. It's just that i like the setting of AOM better. I have the expansion, which i like, but (there's always a but), i am not too fond of titans. For the same reasons as super weapons in Red Alert 2. I just want to out wit my opponents on the battlefield, not race to blow them up in one go.

Medieval Total War ... I am still new to this game but i have high hopes for it.

Other than these games i enjoy modding KoH, it's very addictive once you get into it.

So there you go, my games, all in a nutshell.

There are many games i love but here my favorites:

Knights of Honor: i've played i for the last 6 months...i may make a small break now (i finished a long aar) but will start a new game with GoG 1.6 in a short future.

Celtic Kings punic wars: this is an awesome RTS game set in the roman times. As there's nothing to build, you focus very much on tactics...and the maps are very big.

Spartan / Gates of Troy: as for you, this is one of my top games. Great strategy map and options.

Master of Orion 3: this is a niche game now after the desastrous launch. Many mods around. This is deep space but suitable for few *****rs :silly: . I just love it.

Crusader Kings: my favourite Paradox game but currently on hold as i wait for the next patch.

All the Age of Empires games: classic RTS....currently playing Age of Kings.

All the city building games: currently playing Pharao but my fav is Emperor.

So many others but....

This isn't really a KoH-specific thread, I'll move it to the Webmaster's Inn. Discussing games with a beer in your hand is much better than discussing games between people asking KoH-stuff and the like  .

Well, about my gaming-behaviour...
1503 A.D. and some 1602 A.D.
- Currently only 1503 A.D. because I have a nice Eye-Candy-City growing up.

KoH (obviously GoG)
- Whenever I get a new idea or have discussed something with Elvain I modify GoG and fire up KoH to test the changes. I'm quite statisfied with the latest changes and will finish my just-for-fun Teutonic Order campaign someday after my 1503 A.D.-city is finished.

Unreal Tournament
- When I'm bored and can't think of anything to do I grab my handy sniper rifle and decapitate some 300 hundret bots... By then usually something more senseful than "Head shot!" has come to my mind and I'm bored of 45 kills with 50 bullets.
Also, this runs under Linux, which is a real advantage.

Neverwinter Nights
- When I don't feel like playing strategy-games and wonder what the h*ll has happened to Aribeth I play NWN.
This also runs under Linux. Another reason to praise it's glory.

Jagged Alliance 2
- I stopped playing it lately, but it's one of the greatest games ever produced. You've got to love it when the best thing two of your mercenaries can think of is starting an argument during a fierce house-to-house fight just because one of them is a communist and the other one an american redneck... "I bet this damned soviet wanted to kill me!"
This also runs under Linux. Doesn't make the best game ever any better, but is one of the reason why it's the best game ever  .

- Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
It's just a nice turn-based game. Nice for running behind the scenes while chatting or so...
Also runs under Linux. The reason why I got interested.

Actually a friend of mine has just purchased Anno and he claims it's the best thing since sliced bread. I shall take a look at it.

I also read about Punic Wars somewhere else but i have never seen the game in the shops. All things Roman are good with me. Not RTW though as although i have a decent mid range machine it's not up to RTW. My system is better suited to 2d games as my graphics card is not that powerful but has plenty of RAM.

RTW (rome total realism mod)
one of the best strategy ive ever played , it gives you the feeling of that your really commanding soldiers , its very filmic. you just have to love the music , the battles are massive and mighty and great.

diablo 2:lord of destruction
i have an clan there , i dont play it so much nowdays , ivec reached the limit , ive fillled my goals. the first times i enjoyed he avenvture . from the catacombs of andariel to the arreat summit.

counterstrike:source
i wonder if there is anything better then the good old first person shooter cs now in the beautifull source engine, hideing in a dark corner with a knife waiiting for a prey to pass by.

red alert2:
its fun sometimes playing it. mind controling everything or makeing massive helicopter armadas. its westwoods theory of what would happen if ww2 never happend.

koh: its still amuseing after many months , currently playing as france .

has anybody played battlefield 1942??

Angryminer
30-06-2005, 16:22
Yes, I played Battlefield 1942. It was a lot of fun. Down in some sandy trench at the doors of tobruk, last magazine in the browning mg, no grenades left and lots of nazis running around the place. Suddenly the engine-sound of a german Tank IV... You just now that you are taking your last breath... And when you can already see the tank's barrel some metres from you the tank suddenly blows up in a giant explosion and you realize that the artillery on that hill behind you just saved your digital life....
It can be a very intense feeling, though the medic is just too good. Kill someone, heal yourself, kill the next one, heal yourself, same procedure.

Well, "Go Fish" is pretty fun . . . .

Just kidding. 1503 is quite enjoyable. Good music, good graphics, better soldiers, &c., and rated "Teen" so I "can't" take a whole weekend in attempts of teaching my younger brother how to play. ;)

For me well, I love mainly RTS , city building and some adventure games.

Heroes of might and magic IV.
I think it is much better than the previus ones and I'm waiting for the next chapter to this great game.

Diablo 2: Exp LOD
I use to play this game ALOT, I was surd of adicted to this game, but now I don't play much as the realms are full with hacks and duped items taking the fun out of the game.

Empire of Earth/ and expancion
Great game, I love the campains, althoug they weren't too historically acurate they made me think alot and play hard to win.

Civilization series
Allways been a fan of this game. I mean you can make your own civilization and own the world

Emperor
I like this game, specially the campains. Good entertiement.

Anno 1503/ 1603
I play this games once in a while, good city building game.

Europa universalis II
This game is great, good AI, historical acurate events and much more. I havent played crusader kings but was thinking on getting as it is very much like EU II.

AOM series
Good game and entertiement for when you got nothing better to do.

Well that just about it.

I play several games on the computer and on my ps2.

Copmputer

Age of Empires II
Can't go wrong here. A fun and basic rts game that is just a classic.

Galactic Battlegrounds
Same as AoE2 but just with star wars stuff. Another great game.

Red Alert 2
Love this game. The classic showdown between Allies and soviets.

Civ 3
I don't like turn based games, in fact I can't stand them. So the fact that I'm playing this game shows you how great it is.

Rollercoaster Tycoon
Great tycoon game. Whenever I feel like building somethign great without war or death, I pop this in.

1503 a.d.
Great city building game with a huge variety of economy buildings.

PS2

Madden games
It's football. Can't go wrong there.

Splinter Cell Games
Where do I start with this one? It's such an awsome game that I just can't descirbe it.

Medal of Honor Series
Great WWII shooter. It's awsome to just go to shoot people with an M1 Grand.

There are other games that I play on both systems but these are to main ones.

lol most the time, i get games faster than i can complete them, i have around 300-200 or so games i think.

30% of which i have completed

40% of which i haven`t

30% of which i either havent played yet, or played very little.

i blame, x2, morrowind, and MTW i must of but at least 2000 hours just MTW. it was sooo dam good. x2 has had me for probley 200+ hours and morrowind probley the same. i like long games.

ok heres a list of games that i have enjoyed.

diablo 2 expansion- ok i spent lots and lots of time on this game, manily because i would sell every item that i found meaning i would have to walk back to the town or trading post. which took time, and when every you loaded the game every single enemy would respown, you could kill the same boss 40 times. any ways i got to level 3 or 4 (the jungle level) and i had to collect all these peciece of some one body, fuse them in a magic box to make a power flail to open a door so i could kill the level boss. so after 60 or so hours on level 3, (it was a dam long level, with lots of dam hard to kill buggers) i found the door (to the level boss)and i thought i had been to every single location on level, as i could`nt find any fog of war. i tried to fuse all the peices but it did`nt work i had some how missed 1 peice :bash:

i could`nt belive it, i had spent so much time on this level and now that every enemy has respanwed its going to take for ever to retrace every step i have made to find the missing part.

so i had a break from the game, but after a few weeks the harddrive failed meaning all the files were lost :bash:  . soooooo im f****d. so far i havent been borthed to start again.

same the game was quite fun, i dont think ill be playing it again though, my fingers hurt too much from clicking 50,000 times every hour. (lots of enemys)

so 1 game down.

i enjoyed all the city building games you lot of talked about, but ive never completed any of them.

on pharo i came close to finishing it, i was on a mission where i had to build a big 'great pyrimd' but since i could`nt make the sand stone (important resrouce for the pyrimd) ,i had to import it. of which i cold only get 8 bricks every 20 minutes, which is`nt bad but when i looked to see how many i would need it, it became a different matterrrr..... so remeber when your drinking henkin just think of how its made.

lol where was i, oh yes. i needed 8000, bricks or some silly high number. thats would take 10 hours or more. and i had already made my city as big as the map would allow. so after leaving the PC on for ages, i still had`nt gotten any were near my target. so i thought i'll have break, only for the hard drive to fail (same fail as with diablo). i havent played since.

Games im currently playing

sid mirs pirtates (new version) great fun :)
neverwinter nights (big game, im making slow progress 30 hours, chap 2)

rome total war, RTR mod. very good but im waiting for the 6.0 of the mod to come out before i contine

ST:battlefront, im starting to lost intrest

COD(call of duty) MP, im dam good at sniping in pavlov leveal  i always get highest kills, (well most) even when i join with 5 mintues left.

borthers in arms, i havent played this in a few weeks it was o.k, but the wondering cross hairs anoyed me to much

sims 2 expansion, good fun but im getting board

and finally knights of honor, but ive only played 1 campain on medium as england. i have half fo europe. i havent played for a while though.

sooo i bet only 30% of those who starting reading, have made it this far. well done because of your efforts you win  a chance to reply  but if you skiped the post, you still win any way. soo we are all winers  yeah....

I currently am playing !602, been doing some scenario creating there also, and you naturally have to test out your scenario. This is also the only game(other than spades) that I have played against another person online, and only recently started MP.

I mix a little 1503 in on occasion, I prefer the Campaign and the scenarios over the endless gameplay though, I like having goals that must be met(the same holds true for 1602).

I have lately mixed in some Stronghold-Crusader, don't really care for the standard Stronghold. And I like the Skirmish Trail of Stronghold Crusader above the other aspects of the game.

I get on a Red Alert 2 kick occasionally and play it exclusively for about a week. I realy like Yuri's Revenge add-on allso.

Tiberian Sun is pretty cool, I like it for a change of pace.

I have left AoE 2 Age of Kings and the Conquerors expansion to near the end, because I Have put more gaming hours into this game than any other I have played, it is just awesome. Never grow tired of playing it.(I do have The Star Wars Galactic Battleground game also, which is built on the AoE 2 game engine)

StartCraft and Broodwars expansion, this is the game that actually got me turned onto RTS gaming, I still play it occasionally, and am still longing for the sequel that will probably never happen.

WarCraft 2 was a shortlived interest, quit playing it about 2/3-3/4 of the way through.

Swarm Assault, a little known game that held my interest for about a year was the forerunner of all the others in my gaming experience. It had 100 levels of play and then custom gameplay. It is somewhat a RTS but without any resource gathering, no monetary limitations. There were no limitations to the number of units one could have. The twist was that your units were all insects with special abilities(cannon beetles, artillery ants, missile spiders, grenadier ants, sniper spiders, spear throwing scorpions, ninja star scorpions, paralysis wasps, sonar wasps, etc. Talk about a noisy game!

I still have not found KoH for sale anywhere near me here in the US. When I do, I will probably be captivated by it for weeks.

I was in EB Games last week and they didn't have it. The closest BestBuy is 50-60 minute drive and I can't slip away that long to go there. But maybe soon.

I liked from the RTS games most Earth 2150 - The Moon Project, Homeworld and Homeworld Cataclysm, and Ground Control I (I haven't played GCII yet...). MechWarrior III and IV were also fun, but I am not sure what category these games fit to. Of course, I like Anno 1602 very much; that is the game I played most. Right now, I am once again catched by X-Tension (the Add-On to X-Beyond Frontiers); IMHO a very great game which combines economy and battle in a nice way.
