View Full Version : Campaign Style multiplayer???

Does anyone else out there see the potential this game has??? This could easily have an option to play a european campaign in a multiplayer game! Think about it, it already has a no pause feature when in campaign battles, so that the world around you doesnt stop their movements. Why cant that be incorporated into a multiplayer game type? Please...we have to push this into developement, if successful this game would take up countless enjoyable hours and if game mags got a hold of it, this game would sell like wildfire. Just think about it. It has everything it needs, and the features are already there, the developers just need to incorporate it into another multiplayer game type. I would love to try to mod it myself but i unfortunately do not have any modding skill. I simiply enjoy designing new ideas. Just think of the untold possibilities!!! I dont know how to lay the groundwork for a mod, much less how to program one; however, if we bring this idea to the attention of the developers maybe they would include a patch for KOH that would include this new multiplayer style. Lets face it, the multiplayer that ships with this game is very lackluster, but we all know that if this game type were added for multiplayer support, this game would take off. If you are interested in modding this, or contacting the developers further, then send me a private message and we will see what we can do about this. Thanks for the interest.

I seen this arguement and suggested the same thing myself at the RTW forums also, just seems the developers just don't realise that people have LAN parties and that many individuals really do want too play campains in multiplayer.

They realize, but they also realize that such a multiplayer takes time, more time, some more time, a lot more time, extreme amounts of time, some more, even more, and an extra time to develop.
We're talking about 9 to 12 months for one feature.

Mojo I'm with you on this one, I too have RTW and it would also be possible in that game. However I see it working much easier on KOH than RTW. I seriously believe that developers underestimate the amount of lan games that are played now days. And even if it did require a lot of time to play, you can always save the games for a later time, or maybe even to finish over an internet game. It just seems logical to include this feature in the package and i hope to find a way to stress this to the developers. They dont realize what it would do for their sales, much less their companies reputation. They would afterall, be doing something no company has done before. I regularly have lans about once every 1-2 months, while still maintaining a normal lifestyle. It would do wonders for the gaming community and lans are great times for fellowship with friends and family. I firmly believe that this issue should be pressed forward and i would like to bring this to the attention of the developers. If someone can give me information on how to contact them directly with comments i would appreciate it. If we press for this as a community there is no telling where this will end up, we may find ourselves with a new multiplayer game type...who knows. Thank you for your concern, and together we can make this happen. God bless you all!

I'd be happy too play a LAN game for as long as it takes with either my flatmate and or friends as well,i'd assume there was a save feature so you could continue at anytime, would just be a nice added feature that gameing companies seem too shy away from.

I agree man, these developers needs to step out on a limb...and then recieve the awards that i would shower upon them afterwards. I want a game I can play with friends, not that i play at 2 o'clock in the morning by myself. Frickin' developers!

It’s no secret that BSS purposely set out to develop a game for those who wanted to stay up until (or past) 2 am playing by themselves. Unfortunately, IMO, they failed to make an AI platform capable of challenging today’s gamers for that purpose. I have no idea if they even care about that or not. I prefer to think they do but for all we know, their “American Invasion” campaign might be nothing more then the means of securing enough money for their next project. Time will tell.

Well i have news for the developers...if they dont "fix" this game, its going to simply flop. Enough said.

You're by far too late Horatio. You should have posted that message in spring 2004 if you really want it to change something.
On european markets the sales were under estimation and the US-sales were somewhat average.

Yeah I realize that im a bit behind, but I just felt like I needed to say it anyways. I got excited about the game when I got the demo, but I played multiplayer over lan with my brother expecting maybe some multiplayer campaignage and was utterly disappointed. I dont even know that this game is worth buying for the single player factor. I doubt I'll get it unless one of you guys convince me otherwise. Its said that they missed out on such a great idea, and a "ready" global market. I mean, who doesnt love the medieval ages...geeze. I pray that soon a developer will catch on to the multiplayer campaing concept. Else I will slide into depression.

I played KoH about 200 hours and it's still fun. Show me another game of that duration.
And... It's not the developers who don't want the campaign multiplayer. It's the publishers. Neither Sunflowers (KoH) nor Ubisoft (R:TW) want want to fund the development of a campaign-multiplayer for either KoH nor R:TW on their risk.
Actually the developers planned to develop the campaign-multiplayer but had to cease developing it further.

Uggh such wasted potential...it makes me ill to think about what they couldve done with this game. Hopefully the developers realize that. Infuriating...

I say bull****, there no real motive they didn't add campaign style multiplayer.
All there must be done is to work some statistics on the actual map first to make up flags like:
-player can choose only 1 province faction
-player can choose only 2 province faction
-no empire selection(many provinces)
etc. ect. etc. :D
and so on with multiple combinations of choice yelding high number of possible players in this map.
Redirecting data towards a server from players is rather childs play for some1 with skill... unfortunately i'm not yet able to do it effectively but i will learn eventually i hope.
Sunflowers is notorious for multiplayer fowlups; Anno 1503 players know what i'm talking about.
