The most "similar" game to KoH has gold status. It will be shipped 16 March. Few years looong waiting is ended! But I don't think that this game will be so good in comparing to KoH...But maybye I'm wrong...We will see soon! Many players don't want to buy this game until they will play with demo. Me too...
I'm not sure that LOTR 3 are any good - one thing that really rings a bell is the retail price of $19,99 ( according to the official site ) - one can only speculate about why the price is so low  - personaly i'm not gonna pre-order it - i'm wainting for a review before i decide whether or not i'm going to buy it.
btw, there is one thing i like on their site, and that's video clips of the game in action - i'll hope that the KOH devs will make something similar on the main site :)
One annoyance about Lotr3 is that there will not be sieges. Castles will be assaulted with catapults and whatever else but surrounding a castle while the garrison succumbs to hunger, disease and madness, will not be a feature. I enjoyed Lotr2 so I probably will get it on release. I never preorder because preorders are not always to be relied on to arrive on the release date.

LotR 3 looks decent but not anything special, and I have to agree with Henrik that at 19.99 it doesn't seem like they could have put that much work into it to make it as good as possible.

Good idea, I'll probably do the same. $19.99 does make one wonder. :)
