what are the step by step things that winxp needs to have done when you are installing anno 1602 on to the xp system.

every thing needing would be a huge help. as of now i am still using win98 for it so i need to know every little tweak and trick there is when putting it on the xp system.

also you know i been here for along time but answer this question of mine as if i was a newbie. :go:

But to answer your question

1. possibility: Download the istallation patch from the Sunflowers homepage here (http://www.anno1602.de/patches/anno1602_windows2000_xp.exe)

2. possibility: use ghostwalkers installer: here (http://www.newscenterx.de/downloadassistent/dlass.php?action=dload&id=28)

or 3. possibility: try a manual installation..how to do that can be seen here (http://www.anno1602.de/english/support_main.html)

The first step is to ensure that you are logged in with administrator rights when you install Anno1602.

I assume that you have the U.S. Gold Version - in that case, do NOT install any patches, and do not use Ghost Walker's installer as the Gold version has an XP installer included. If you get error messages during the installation (such as "file name too long") you might use it - but not earlier.

The second you might try if you observe crashes of Anno is to reduce the hardware acceleration for your graphic and sound cards to zero (a detailed instruction how to do that can be found here (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303032/EN-US/) - use the methods 3 and 6).

Yes i could use the search but i asked for someone else not for me.
i got a pm from some one that could not speak german and was a little unsure of what to do on the fourm because of that. so i posted for them.

which is why i said step by step for a newbie i don't know if they have the gold version or not?

I installed it same as I would have on 98 and had no problems!

I guess the problem has been solved for the US version. But in the German version has a problem, when you try to install it on XP.

... and only if it is the basic version or the basic version plus the first addon. The German Gold edition ("Königsedition") can also be installed without any problems under WinXP. :smile:

The reason I related my experience was RovingCowboy was asking for someone that couldn't read German, so I figured this person possibly was in the US and had the US version.
