View Full Version : Uninstall problems
I attempted to intall the "Glory of God" mod. I didn't seem to work. Now, I when I try to uninstall the game I get a "loading error". I checked the read me file of the mod. It says to: remove the "defs", "images", "maps" and the "Texts" directories from your KoH-folder. I deleting everything but the "maps". " I couldn't find a map directory". In any case, could some wise soul help me to uninstall the game?
Thank you

Welcome to the forum, Orontes! :halloha:
1. What exactly did you do?
2. The context of the text says you wanted to uninstall the mod, but you said you uninstalled the game. Is that a mistake in the text?
3. Also, about which version of GoG are we talking?
4. Can you give us exact error-messages?
Angryminer
Hello and thank you for the reply.
1) Sometime ago, I attempted to install the mod, but I'm not sure I was successful or not. There is a read me for the Glory of God mod in the folder, but I'm not sure other folders were changed or not. I'm maybe retarded when it comes to intalling. Game play didn't seem affected from what I remember. Because of this, I sort of lost interest in the game.
2) I wanted to uninstall the game, but am unable.
3) The version I have according to the read me is: 1.6. This is the last list of changes noted.
4) The message I get is: Error Loading: C:\ Progra-1\ Common-1\Install-1\Profes-1\ Run Time\ 09\00 Intel32\Ctor.dll The specifed modul could not be found.

4.
This happens when you try to run the uninstallation of from the start-menu (Start -> Programs -> Knights of Honor -> Uninstall Knights of Honor ... if I remember correctly)?

Yes, trying the uninstall from the start menu fails miserably. I haven't been any more successful any other way either: not that I know many other options. Any ideas?
You can run your computer in safe mode, and then just delete the KoH folder. During startup, you need to press F5 or F6, I'm not sure, consult help centre. And than delete the registry values, Angryminer knows where they are, and that should uninstall it.

Yes, you can uninstall KoH by manually deleting the Knights of Honor-folder and removing the registry entries at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Black Sea Studios
There are also references to KoH in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Uninstall -> {*a generated ID* }, but you can propably omit these.
But the error you recieved points to a general error with the uninstallation-program that isn't related to KoH.

Thank you for the replies. I will try and go for the registry deletion. Two questions: following this protocal do a errase the files in the Program files and then go for the registry removal? Questions two: the marks between say "MACHINE" and "Software" is that supposed to be \ or an arrow? I don't think I have an arrow on my keyboard (I use a Japanese keyborad).
Note on the general error uninstall issue. I haven't had any problems with other games. I think I may have done something wrong when trying to install the mod which was sad because the mod looked like a great improvement on the game. alas.

1. The order of removal doesn't affect the procedure.
2. Yes, by "manually deleting the Knights of Honor-folder" I mean deleting the Knights of Honor-folder in "Program Files" (if that is where the folder is placed, by default it is).
3. The registry keys are organized in a tree-structure. The arrow stands for "Open the folder Software within the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", f.e.
To access the registry use "Start", "Run...", type in "regedit.exe" and hit "Run!" or the enter-key.
4. Yes, you propably did something wrong while extracting the files for GoG. You either extracted the files into the wrong place or extracted only parts of the archive.

Thank you Angryminer the surgery was a success.
