View Full Version : Question conscerning the dinosaurs

Now, I've been reading all of the previews and checking out the trailers and it seems like I only see about 10-15 different creatures all together. This got me wondering, and if you guys don't mind could i ask some questions?
The first I have is, does each tribe have a specific list of dinos and prehistoric beast that is unique to them? I have only seen Dilophosaurs in the Dust Runner tribe, does this mean that they can only be used in that tribe? The same issue is with the Norsemen and their Mammoths and Rhinos. Are they strictly Norsemen creatures?
The second question I have is whether we can have all of the animals in the game as controllable units. All of the sites and previews say 50+ animals, but none say if they all can be controlled (IIRC). Will some of the dinos be wild animals only? I have seen a very small variety of dinos that are units, but i'm sure you don't want to spoil to much by showing all of them :).
And my last question is, can a dino which is riderless and without equipment attack? I've seen several riderless dinos in screenshots that look like they are in the players army, but have no armor or weapons. Can they attack just lke normal units, or are you unable to give them orders?
I hope these questions don't fall into the realm of spoilers. I was just curious about several of the things i have seen of the game. Thanks in advance :)

Yes.

Already answered here (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/paraworld/show_msgs.html?topic_id=24605385), I guess. ;)

Sure! If there's no rider, then it's not under direct control of the player. There are a few selected units like that. Also, of course, there are dinos living 'in the wilderness' that do not belong to any of the tribes. Depending on their species they may attack you on their own, try to escape or fight back when being attacked.

I find this a slight disappointment because i had liked that all tribes could use all animals in the game and i had also liked that all animals in the game could be controlled by the tribes and that you could find them in the wild.
(This is a little disappointment for me but i still think this is going to be a great game.)
and that you could find them in the wild
You know, ages ago that was one of the ideas SEK toyed around with - tribes recruiting all their dinosaurs by taming some. It did sound really neat on the paper - but, ultimately, it wasn't fun. Drove up the amount of required micromanagement immensely.

lol, yeah I asked the same question on the Gamespot boards too, but i thought it would be a good idea to ask here as well :)
Thanks for the response :D. It helped me get a feel for the game in general. And although it turned out different from what I first expected, it still seems like a great premise and a cool game :).
Oh i had one liitle thing on my mind. You guys realize your T-Rex has 3 fingers right, i just noticed when i watched the trailer. I'm not the kind of player who would be like "OMG THE T-REX HAS THE WRONG NUMBER OF FINGERS THIS GAME IS GONNA SUXORS", but i just wondered if it was by mistake or a graphical decision. Either way, it's no deal breaker for a game this cool looking :)
Yes i know that our t-rex has 3 fingers and I also know that the original one had only 2, but we decided to change all the fantasy dinosaurs into ones, that existed. So we took an fantasy one and changed the proportions and textures to let him look like a t-rex, if i find some time, i'll fix that... it's already on my list :)
I hoped no one would see this 'tho :D

lol, I'm just very observant I suppose. The T-Rex is also one of my favorites....come to think of it, they're all my favorites :) But don't bother with the change if it translates to extra work and a longer time 'til it's finished. Like i said, it's certainly no deal breaker. Heck, even classics like Fantasia had three-fingered T-Rexes, and i don't think anyone really cared.
And i'd like to add that I love the warpaint design on them, makes them much more vicious looking :D.

Yeah, the warpaint looks awesome.
Say, is there any way I could get a complete list of dinosaurs in the game?
I suppose the Tyranosaur is that colored dustrider titan? Looks cool
I wouldn't want to rule out that possibility. ^^
Urm, what?
Does that mean it is or not? This one

I meant so say that I wouldn't want to rule out the possibility that the T-Rex indeed is the Dustrider titan unit. ;)
Yeah, that's the REX.
Hmm, seems while clicking "save picture as" I selected the frame and didn't check what was it.

I have already seen two titans the T-rex and the Triceratops but, can you please tell my more about other titans then those two titans.
Naw, we'll keep the Dragon Clan Titan under wraps for now. ;) Unlike the T-Rex, this one is better at mid- or long-range combat.

Ok, i understand.
But i have one little question left could you please tell me if the Dragon Clan Titan is good in close-range combat to?
He's not 'bad', but weaker compared to the titan units of the other two factions.

Thanks.
I still have two questions.
1.Will the 4th tribe\race\faction have a titan.
2.If the 4th tribe\race\faction has a titan could you please tell my more about there titan.
There's a 4th faction? :P
