Hey people,

I liked what I found very much so sit down and read about it..

Once upon a time *ahem*..

I mean: I didn't want to buy Knights of Honour immediately (some time ago), so I first tried the one from a friend of mine. Of course, he wanted the cd back, so I had to use a no-cd crack.

Well, that's all in the past now, I've bought the real version of the game because I liked it.

But, the no-cd patch was for 1.0 and worked fine. It was cracked by money a.k.a hardcore styling the dll for cracking purposes as $$$.dll.

Then version 1.3 of KoH was out. The crack didn't work anymore. So I looked around a bit if I could maybe crack it myself and I found in the KoH.exe raw data version 1.3 the following (it was placed after were the *old* protection was, now the file was changed of course):

--- what is the use of money if you dont have any brain at all,
hardcore you knooow the score! you want it hardcore ? i give
you hardcore --- girls entertain longer than money does ---
and lawyers need MONEY too --- No MONEY in this world is
worth the risk you take - think about it!

In other words - Sunflowers didn't like money for making the no-cd crack and some programmer wanted to give a reaction :biggrin:

It seemed impossible to crack the game 1.3 from that moment, though I had found something funny! :cheers:

Hahaha :) I've just downloaded the patch and found that too. Decided to post it here and ask the devs what that means, but I see you did it long time before me, anyway. Veeery interesting indeed, but I think it's pointed to the Money Crack team which made the first cracked exe. :) Because it's right after umm.. the.. position where that team changing the exe file. So it's suppoused to be viewed.

It's sound me like Maitap mode :) hahaahha

I can't believe the moderators here allow this sort of topic. Most game sites any discussion, at all, of piracy, cd-cracks, etc, is completely unacceptable. Oh well, it's not my site...

Well, Death Eater, it's sometimes better to revive an old thread than to create another on the same subject. Other forums are much more strict in this (don't create another thread!), but not here of the SF boards.

I don't think it's unacceptable to point something like this out, candelarius. Discussing a no-cd patch for illegal use isn't allowed of course, but we should not deny somebody to ask for a No-cd patch (officially) nor deny something that is located in a file like above.

I'm not promoting the use of no-cd patches and playing copies of games - that be clear. I've bought Knights of Honor looong ago already.

Sorry angryminer, I wonder what it happened to my post, now i saw your one. Okay no problem , let play the game as it should be. And by the way I do not talk about pro-cracking, nor it is cracked or should be cracked or someone will crack it! Just wanted to talk about selling politic, anyway. I can't buy it here. (i did a mistake mention that in the deleted post, the copy i owned was of my friend). Anyway it was too emotionaly :) You know better than me about that and about cracks.

By the way Do you know who's the hardcore guy? :) haha.. very interesting situation of sunflowers and especially Black Sea Studio. Lawyers? Could be, but is it?

I edited the above post. See, I don't mind talk about "Yes, there are people with illegal copies, those evil guy" but I don't like talk about why cracking is good and why it is understandable - these are the official forums and any pro-cracking statements are unacceptable here. Cracking is illegal and thus any statements proposing this idea will be removed from this forum.
