View Full Version : Map Editor
I just read about this feature on the German forums, I hope it really works.
To start the map editor do the following:
Und so wirds gemacht:
1. Open C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Appliaction Data\Black Sea Studios\Knights Of Honor\KoH.in2 and add to section [app] the following:
debugmode = 1
2. Start KoH. Red squares in each corner of the screen signal that the debug modus is activated.
3. Press in the Main screen F11.

Well, you've induced me to give all more substantial information :tongue:(piece from the german forum - Schotte).
@Tempest: In /Documents and Settings/<current user>/Application Data/Black Sea Studios/Knights of Honor/KoH.ini file in section [app] add this: debugmode = 1
While in debug mode you will always see four red squares into four corners of the screen. The game will run slower than usual and will be very unstable I guess. While in main screen in debug mode press F11 - surprise :)
BUT! have in mind that messing up with the "internals" of the game is the shortest way for you to make it unplayable or crashing. KoH is very very complex thing, guys. Making nice mod will take quite a lot of tries and failures. So, be patient and always have game CD handy :) :)
Also, please notice, that map tool is not offcial part of the game and is available only as debug tool, i.e. AS IS. It will crash, it will mess up the things, so make up your mind.
First, if you want save/load maps, you must create this folder "maps\Temps".
Then you must extract (all is better) packs/*.pak/*.pk1 (with PakMan).
If you want save/load original maps, you must copy all from the maps\ folder in "maps\Temps"!!!
It seems it is not fully functional and not all files are available.
But if we find the folders/files names that lack we can get a more functional/stable editor.
For example; "Images\realms\editrealms4.bmp not exists, so we copy another bmp to this name.
I hope you will share your improvements with us too. :)
Thanks! I'll try it later.
Then you must extract (all is better) packs/*.pak/*.pk1 (with PakMan).
1. Exctract where? Into Terms?
2. Exctract how? In folders or as "free" files?
:)
Yes please support more information, I will be needing the map editor for my mod.
1. Exctract where? Into Terms?
2. Exctract how? In folders or as "free" files?
:)In PakMan by Tempest there is the option, when right-clicking a random file in the PAK, to extract all files to original directory, which is what you'd want, because Knights of Honor looks in the original directory.
Also, further information on using the map editor can be found here (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?p=183835#post183835) and in this post (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showthread.php?p=183830#post183830) and the rest of that thread.
