Moving the wharehouse

I would like to move my wharehouse to the other side of my island, to make trading more efficient. I have tried to delete it but cant. Is this possible?

To delete your warehouse you must first delete all the other buildings on the island. Do you really want to do that?

That is what I thought I would have to do. I am only getting about 2,000 gold in taxes from that island. My balance sheet is 13,000. and I have about 9 million gold. I need to put 10,000 inhabitants on this island, and I'm not going to have enough gold for aristocrats. Most of my island will be covered with merchant housing. so imports will be needed, and all the islands that are left are on the opposite side of my wharehouse.

I got 10,000 aristocrats on one island, and I got 10,000 merchants on another, that is giving the aristocrats a steady supply of jewelry. The merchant island was nothing but housing and very hard to keep supplied but was possible. The scenario was "delusions of granduer"
