Don't you have to in atleast some states in the US?

Atleast here you have to be 18. Nowadays you can start driving school at 16, but it used to be later.

You can get a driving license for very small motor-cycles with 15 years.
With 16 you can get the 'not-that-small-motorcycle'-driving license.
At the age of 18 you can get your car-driving license (and the 'real-big-motorcycle'-license).

I wanted to get the motorcycle-driving license, too, but you have to go to the driving school here in germany and I didn't want to spend even more money...

nope, to get a driving liscense for a car here it's 16, but in some states you can start Drivers Ed. Training when you're 15 1/2. But then again we can join the military at 18, but can't drink alcohol legally until 21.
