4.3.4 Strategy overview
Develop an initial colony of Pioneers into Settlers by providing food, Cloth, market place and Chapel, as before. The catch is, space is very tight on the starting colony. It is probably just about possible to develop using only the starting island, but it will be easier to start a secondary production colony to produce certain things, and then ship them across. It is tempting just to settle an entirely new colony and build the population up there, but that will take longer and is not required. Again, keep focused only on what is needed to complete the objective: You do not need to meet every demand your population ask of, just those related to keeping Settlers happy.

DREAD, I built a chapel and marketplace on the initial colony
then set up a productio0n island to suply the pioneers, but ran out of TOOLS very soon  as there are no traders or players to buy from ????

There are Free Traders in that scenario, so you should be able to buy tools from them.

Concerning the demands of settlers: Provide them with a market place, a chapel, food and cloth - and, if you like, with alcohol (it is always recommendeable to provide settlers with alcohol to get more taxes, but in this scenario it might be not worth it as you need only 60 inhabitants). They also want cigars, spices, a tavern and a school, but they only need them for upgrading to citizens. So, do not provide them as long as you do not want to upgrade your people - and in that scenario, you just need 60 inhabitants (incl. 40 settlers).

RR. i must have done something wrong, b cause i DON T have any traders:confused:
i read the strategy guide and it say s to do xcatcly what U said, it also said the Traders would only be available after building my 2 nd colony, i assume
that the florinz colony counts as one , so after building my Production island that wou ld B my 2 nd colony, is that correcct ??
AS a test i halted all production, hit F7 for turbo speed, and watched my ports for Trasder ships, NONE ??
I m also buyin the TOOLS at the max amount 140 still no Traders:bawling:
can probably Restart and probably figure it out , but i m Stubborn lol

"Concerning the demands of settlers: Provide them with a market place, a chapel, food and cloth "

I ve done these things
they re maxed out on food and cloth they have their chapel, and marketplace

I even cut their taxes down to the min. like 17 percent

i have 6 Settlers, but have been stuck their for about an hour or so ??

any thoughts would B appreciated as allways:bowdown:

Thanks DOLFAN

Do you have any tools? How about wood?

I just checked it out, you start the scene with about 40/43 more tools than you need

Sorry RR,

did you change "The End of a long trip (Nach langer Reise)"
with "One Lone Settlement (Eine einsame Siedlung)" ?

60/40 are the challenge of "the end of a long trip".
And in One lone settlement " there are no free traders.

And you have 79 tools ...

@ Christina + Dolfan ..have you got it so far  ?

@Frieden: Yes, you are right, I mixed up the scenarios...

@Dolfan: However, there are Free traders. They will appear after you built your second warehouse at another island (I'd prefer a 100% sugarcane or grapes island for producing alcohol). You may then buy tools from them for $70-80 per ton.

If the settlers do not grow, you should provide the pioneers with building material and the necessary public buildings (market place and chapel) and goods (food and cloth). If a house does not upgrade, check the needs of the inhabitants by clicking on it. The taxes do not play a key role; pioneers pay any tax. In general, your people should smile; it is not necessary to lower the tax to the minimum. BTW if you provide alcohol, the settlers will be happy to pay much more taxes...

And... something purely technical: If you want to quote, do not delete the code in the brackets. To get a quoting, select the text and press the "quote" button in the menu (second from right) or use the following syntax (without the space in the brackets):
quoted text
Dread,

i restarted the game and had No problem
i had used up too many tools the first time upgrading my 2 nd colony:blush:

the only other thing i changed was to Reposition my marketplace in the LONE SETTLEMENT, so that it covered every house, instead of all but 2 ,like in my first game, got that tip in the stategy guide, don t know if that helped,
Hopefully this might help any other SWABS like me
As allways thanks to ALL for the help,
SEE YA, DOLFAN :mosher:
