Finally Received the KoH! Some Thoughts

Well Guys....After UPS screwed up my order shipping it to a another address, I finally received my copy yesterday! I'm playing Scotland (maybe because I played it so much in the demo) & I really love this game. I noticed vs. the demo...the music is much nicer & the spy is enabled. Just to name a few.

A few things that annoy me a little...but I can deal with it.

1st: Max 1024x768 resolution? Come on...It's 2006. Many of us have graphics card to can play the game @ a higher-res. Would have liked to see more of the screen. At least 1280x1024!

2nd: Opening credits...I have to watch all of the opening credits to Black Sea Studios & Sunflower til I can get to the game? Has anybody else noticed this? I keep on hitting the ESC key & nothing brings me to the game any quicker.

3rd: If you have a FULL garrisoned army in your city...you can't tell which units can be made without a Marshall inside! I need to dismiss a unit just to see what special buildings I needs to produce. I'm I doing something wrong here?


Anyway...It's a fine game. Glad I purchased it! Also...The manual is "Top-Notch" These days were are lucking not to get a PDF. file for a manual.

If you install the Patch, you can look which special buildings a unit needs without a marchall in town, also if your garrison is full.

1. Yes, well known.
2. Use the logos.pak-files offered in this forum to shorten the intro. Should be in the modding-forum.
3. Do you have the US-version of the game? Then you can click the recruit-button to see what units are available, wether a marshall is in the town or not. If you have the european version install the patch from the koh-website to enable this.

Addition to 2. - Also CTRL + LMB (Left Mouse Button) after the first 5 seconds (at least for the BSS intro).

Thanks to all that replied. I tried the mod for the start up & it doesn't work for me. So...I took "Travellers" suggestion to use the CRTL/L-Click option. This speeds it up enough not to make it so annoying.

One thing the manual doesn't explain (maybe I couldn't find it) is just exactly how to get Silk, Gems, Sugar etc. thru the Admiralty. I found out here by doing a quick search. Use the Gold Anchor icon in the town info. panel.

At the moment...I am winning hands-down on medium AI. I just got all of the Kingdom Advantages....But I decided to keep going after it asked for a minor victory. This game is truly EPIC!!! Make sure you have hours of your life to lose before your start!

Really fun game & I'm glad I'm purchased it.
