View Full Version : Sticky situation in The Fairy Forest
Anybody got any tips on winning the beetle race?
Or, How many times must you lose the race for them to feel pity on you and give you the speed boots anyway?
You've began to play yesterday and you're already in the Fairy Forest.
You play quite quick. ;)
The beetle race ist difficult to win. You have to try ist again and again, some time you will win. :D
Or you download and install Patch 1.02, the Patch makes the beetlerace easier: http://technomage.de/german/downloads/patch.html The patch is from the German part of the TM-site, but I think it will also work with the Englisch version of the game.
And sorry for my english..

I took off work yesterday and played all day!
(I am self-employed, so I just didn't schedule any work for yesterday, I still have plenty of time to work all my accounts!)
I will check out the patch, I'm getting tired of losing the race and want to continue the quest.
And your English is fine! My German on the other hand would not be understandable!
Oh, those beetles... how I love them...good luck, the patch will help. And look forward to your trophy!

As you have the international version, you should not install any patches.
It's just training. I am certainly not a racing games player, but I could win the race, nevertheless. I played with the mouse and the keyboard only, maybe you should try that, too: use the arrow up key for accelerating, and z/x for steering. Don't worry, you'll do it! :)
And if nothing helps... send me your savegame.

The beetle race made me also    :bash: :bash: :bash: , but you have to try and try and try and try and...... (please donīt crash your keyboard;)) but you will certainly win it. Iīm sure!!!! Good luck!:go:

My goodness! I'm nearly freaked out.
Nothing couldn't help me.
Finally only the proposal from roadrunner brought the success.:go:
Yeah the patch is for German only, and BTW, it will not let you install it if it is not for your version. I tried and it said I already had a more current version than the patch and didn't install(or at least as best I could translate, that is).
I even did a google search for a savegame, to no avail. Considered hex-editing the savegame I had to include the speedboots into my inventory, but was afraid I would mess things up. So I just went back and tried again and the fairies seemed a little slower this time(or maybe I had just gotten in enough practice cutting the corners), I had only two ahead of me and passed them halfway through the race. Anyway I crossed the finish line with no fairies in sight anywhere behind me! And believe me I saved the game right then and there! I am now in the Inner Forest!
Thanks for all the suggestions! And RoadRunner, had I not finally beaten it, I would have taken up your offer!

Congratulations! - The next "race" is far ahead, in the ruins, and it is much easier to win.

Except if you don't notice the second switch like I did. :silly:

It seems to me, RoadRunners offer inspires everyone.
The same happened to me, I failed about 50 times, and RoadRunner offered me to send him my savegame and he would drive the race instead of me.
I tried again and I won.

Not another one! I hate races!
Except if you don't notice the second switch like I did.
What do you mean, there is a switch somewhwere that makes that race easier?

I spoke about the famous "switch race", where you have to pull some levers in a certain time. It's not a race like the beetle one, you'll even don't need your running boots... But I am telling too much. Let's be patient, you'll notice it when you are there... :D
Okay, that is alright. I did okay with the switch race in the Crypt in Steamertown. And also did okay with the switch race in the Tutorial, so I should be okay with it.
