View Full Version : Crashes and patches
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there is going to be another patch.
I have the original patch but the game still crashes quite frequently: particularly when I try to assault a town with no wall. Also I noticed I cant make cavalry charge (so I always hire feudal knights cos they charge anyway!).
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, bowman! :halloha:
1. No, there is no patch planned. An official statement is lacking, but by now we can say that there won't be a patch.
2. Did you try upgrading drivers? F.e. graphics drivers, soundcard drivers and the like (DirectX, f.e.). The game runs very stable on most computers and such crashes are often caused by old drivers. An upgrade may help.
3. Can you make infantry charge or can't you issue the charge-command at all? Does charging work when you select the charge-command from the menu at the bottom? (When stamina of the squad is over 3/4th of the maximum there is an icon with a sword with a blaze of fire around it, that's the charge-icon, click it and issue the target)
I hope this helps! :go:

Hi I'm new here.
I've unfor purchased KoH, and considered continuous crashes I did update the game through the patch.
The crashes are continuing, even worst.
My system is P4 3Ghz HT, 1024 RAM 400MHz, Mainb. Asus P4P800SE, DVDRAM, DVD dual layes writer, Creative Audigy 2, ATI Radeon 9600 256 Ram, main monitor Samsung 19" Syncmaster 913N, secondary HP 17", logitech cordless mouse/keyboard, ADSL.
Win XP Pro SP2, Zone Alarm firewall pro, Avast pro, Spybot and AdAware.
Video/audio drivers are updated to latest version, and cannot shut down antivir and firewall as adsl connection is 24hrs on, so does anybody has some kind of solution? Thank you very much in advance.
You can at least set your firewall to 'internet connection closed' (for zonealarm: "Stop all internet activity") and then disable the antivirus. Or you could turn off your ADSL modem. That's what I do. Also, disabling Spybot and likewise programs helps.
If that still doesn't prevent continuous crashes, I'd like to hear. Sadly, many players experience crashes that cannot be solved.

Thank you, Mr. Doux,
for yr reply. I did turn off internet connection, Zone Alarm, antivirus and Spybot.
Again, game crashed with apparently no reason or error messages, it simply and suddenly closes living screen resolution at 1024x768 (game resolution), and I'm normally working at 1280x1028.
Am I in the "mysterious crashes" category??
Hmm..more options (since the game works only at 1024x768 pixels): try to start the game in that last mode. Also, try swapping color depth of your monitor to 16-bit/32-bit before starting the game. Altough all this shouldn't matter, since KoH adjusts this as well, I'm just throwing in some ideas..
Maybe starting the "Configure Knights of Honor" gives any hint [Koh.exe /c], also found in your start menu>Black Sea studios>KoH>Configure KoH
But when exactly does KoH crash? When playing for, say, an hour? Or right at the menu? I, for instance, experience (some) (random) crashes while playing battles and when saving, but that's something that cannot be helped. Save often, is the only advice there [though the risk of crashing is even higher then with me - :nono: !]
Lastly - defragmenting and error checking your harddisk is advised in the readme.

Also, you can try killing as many processes as possible in taskmgr.exe (at your own risk of course).
I'd advise not to kill the following processes (from my own pc):
explorer.exe (altough it cán be killed and your pc will work, final option?)
svchost.exe (all instances)
System
cisvc.exe
smss.exe
csrss.exe
winlogon.exe
services.exe
lsass.exe
spoolsv.exe

Hi.
Tx yr suggestions
Game crashes randomly, generally, after 5-7 minutes... you understand it is impossible to play saving every 45 seconds...
I'll try killing processes, I know what to do (at least I hope so...)
But I guess I'll give away this game... pity, it is a very nice game... when working.
thank you 'n' regards

Hi.
Just to update and conclude:
Once closed/killed every running process, not basic, game continues to crash.
Frankly speaking, I'm quite astonished...
Finally, sadly, I did unistall the game.
Regards everybody
Then it's probably a hardware problem. Really a pity!
