Hello,

I just got draw into this game when i saw the features and screenshots on gamespot and from there on it was all "cant wait till it comes out"

ANyway, my question is will there be a Random Map feature or is there only a Campaign Start to finish and dats it? I would love to see a Random Map feature in this where u can customize ur own style of play similar to Rise Of Nations Random Map feature. Thanx mateys
love the game works so far though!

Hi and welcome!

as a senoir member, i hope i can help you.

the game will include a world conquer mode in single player (europe, near east and north afrika)
and a skirmish battle and castke attak/defend mode in multi player (maybe also a world conquer map later)

that means for single player:

wolrd map, of course looks every time the same
in battles in depends in what region theh fight is.

for multiplayer it means:
the map can be randomzie, cause there you only have the battlefields

i maybe have to ecplain that you have 2 views. on is the worldview/map there you see the countries with the borders, the towns, the forests, the rivers, the mountains, birds and some moving pepoles and armys and many more

in the "closeup" or battleview you see all the deatails. there you see your armys in deatil and the houses, the guards on the townwall or working farmers and many more.

but i think the map is so large that you will have to play a lot till you know all the maps in the closeup view

Oh k, but the Single Player mode isnt like a campaign or so where u have limited resources like in the other strategy games, right?
its cool!
thanx

In single player you have only one map, not a campaign. And I doubt you can run out of resources definitely.

It kind of reminds me of Stronghold in a way.

Q1: Are there Hills and Mountains? if so, How can I use it strategically?

Q2: Are there any places with water? (like shallow Creeks, river, where people can stand & walk around w/o drowning) If so, can units walk in there and have a fight there?

as far as i know you cant use hills and mountains for strategic advantage,... but maybe i am wrong. i HOPE i am,...

as you see in the sreenshot gallery on the official website, the landscape looks really beatiful and of course there will be battlefields where you see a river,... if the troops are facing each other on such a place :)

There will be possibility to cross the rivers. Also as a battle type !river crossing" there is thread. Search "river crossing, you'll know much more.

Mountains are, hills are strategical in battles (archers can shoot further from a hill. Also there are mountain passes, so it can be used strategically. I hope :)

I hope I can show you my opinion. Sorry if you mind it.

So. Here ARE mountain passes. There IS archers advantage when shooting from a hill (because there ARE elevation levels in Cklose View, which is used for battles).

And I THINK is very likely to have some strategical use of mountain passes. (When they ARE in, you'll be silly if not using them);)

i dont find a confirmation about it :(

It was discussed at least two times somewhere. I'll try to find it. But I hope you understand it's annoying to look up everything when anybody asks. Yes it WAS written. I am SURE. But sorry if I don't post my source everytime, because I'm lazy to search for it.

However I think it's not big difference. When archer is once programmed that from higher place will choot further, doesn't matter if on a hill or wall. My opinion.

the point is, if you are on a open battlefield where you maybe have hills but no towers, then it would be difficult to let your archers do a longer shot, when the game handles a plane land the same as a hill and only gives the range bouns on a tower? know what i mean?

so i think frank&frujin can bring clearance if a hill brings also a bonus to archers ot not
