View Full Version : That happens when companies only go for the money (Sam&Max2 canceled)
Hi!
as some of you know lucas arts has canceled sam&max2.
specially the fans of lucas arts couldnt understand it, cuase the game was almost finished. one reason why the game could be another adventure hit of lucas arts (after a poor monkey island 4 and a "strange" grim van dango) is, that the game would find its way back to good old point&click, and this in a awsome looking 3d cartoon world. the reason why, they cancled it is also non understandable as the decision itself.
here lucas arts officiall statement:
"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC" says Mike Nelson, Acting General Manager and VP of Finance and Operations. "
even the inventor and "father" of sam&max couldnt undertsnad why lucas arts stoped the production of sam&max2
here the link of his statement:
http://www.mixnmojo.com/
if you are also disappointed you can write lucas arts a mail:
pr@lucasarts.com <pr@lucasarts.com>
But direct but not rude! :)
another thing you can do is do subscribe a petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/SamMax2/petition.html
http://www.petitiononline.com/LACOSAM/petition.html
so subscribe to one of the or to both :)
nbc giga is that disappointed that they suggest the fans should stop to buy games from lucas arts and to watch star wars episode 3 to let lucas arts feel that they cant tread the fans like they do with the sam&max2 project
here what they wrote:
http://www1.giga.de/stories_u4/0,3204,79356,00.html
warning: its in german! :)
so i am glad that the producers of KoH are not going the way that lucas arts is going at the moment and tread there fans and customers the good way

I'm playing right now to Sam & Max Hit the Road and it's a really good oldie.
Btw nowdays companies thinks that Graphic Adventure market is death. It happens with all companies.
There is a community of fans that developes a free Space Quest game in 3D. You can look at this (http://www.sq7.org/).

strange idead, but maybe you can start contact the programmer from sam&max and aks if you can publish the game,... the game itself is almost ready,... and lucas arts dioesnt want it, so maybe its not to hard to get the license,.. and the people wouldnt care if at beginning the logo of sunflowers pops up or that from lucas arts as long as they can enjoy the game :)
Yehh well i hate it how it takes soo long to make WOW man...well its finelly comin people (Y)

hmmm,.. dont know what you want to say
the point is: fans want to see the comeback of one of the best ever adventure games and lucas arts simply quits the production, cause they "fear" they dont get the money they want.
and the trueth is: over 90% of the last lucas arts games of the last 2-3 years where star wars licensed ones,... why? cause its easy for them to make money with star wars license cause the name star wars is a selfseller, like coca cola

"...we've decided that this was not the appropriate time..."
It really doesn't make sense to have a game developed (it's nearly finished!) and then kick it into the dustbin, so there has to be another motive...

well,.. its hard to say it,.. but they dont think they get the money as they do it with star wars,... and that makes me crazy cause lucas arts its far away from beeing a poor company without money for productions.
so if you read between this lines:
"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, ..."
you see that it has to do with makeing money.
trueth is: the market for adventure games is almost dead,... but not cause the customers dont want it,... no! its cause that the companys found out you make easier money with action games.
means: shooter, rts games and rpg games with lots of battles
economical games like transport tycoon are also almost dead
but when i see games like restaurant empire and hotel giant, i understand why (sorry)

This also happened to a secuel of "Imperivm Galactica", IG3 first delayed, later called "Galaxy Andromeda" and finally canceled.

There was some European game company making a game called Midgard, it sounded like it was going to be really kool but they canceled it as well. Too bad too, I would've bought it. Maybe BSS will pick it up lol.

o.k. i explain it to you: sam&max was one of lucas arts best selling adventure games. they startet to make sam&max2 in 3d but still with good old "point&click" there already exist the official trailer. but for some resons (read my posts above) lucas arts decided to cancel the whole thing and it seems they will freeze it for ever. so many many fans are disapointed and want to protest against lucas arst decision, cuase tehy realy where looking forward to the game.
its ok wehn you dont like adventure games. but when you dont, then please dont spam it as you did, ok? :)

Let's make one thing clear. Who said I don't like adventure games? My post was simply a joke not a spam at all, it's sad you have seen it in this way. I really understand your dissapointment about unfair Lucas Arts policy, today I tried to find anything about this game, but I couldn't any in Lucas Arts homepage. Sad. So, I'd like you to know, I really support your actions... some kind of pettition, if I've understood it right. Go on, mate.
I've chosen this thread because I found it very popular, I haven't any idea of offending. So, count it as a joke, not more. OK?
@bagpipe:
sorry, but i wrote why i sayd those things. so please udnerstand me cause i understand you, ok? and you already sayd sorry, so everything should be ok now! :)
i dont know if you are an adventure fan or not, i just sayd that in case thet you arrent to make clear lines, cuase i cant and will not give anybody ther order to like adventure games, of course :)

I found something. Looks nice;)
So, now we can really forget this misunderstanding.:bday:
