I read the FAQs and some line says that the weather will not affect the army because this game is conquest, and not military simulation. My friend and I talked about this issue and agreed that most people who love strategy games will definitely love military simulation as well. The medieval conquest is mainly focus on military advancement and therefore make careful judgement when deploying and maneuver army.

Weather is one of the factor that determine the outcome of the battle. Look at the difference between a raining day and bright sunny day. When it rains, the army feel cold, and get hungry faster. The marching hampered by muddy land and easily wear them out. Mobility slowed. Attack with fire arrow is impossible. Same for snowing.

Also when it’s windy, the arrow is less accurate. Fire spread easily according to the direction the wind blows.

It is just as important as anything else, and it should not be neglected to complete a strategy game.

Nice, but don't forget this is only a game :(

I would like to see it all in game, really, but it should take years to develop game like this.

There has been so much talking about weather and the lack of it that i'll bet that if they make a KoH2 ( which is likely IMHO ) they will include the weather as a parameter in some form or the other.

rain is in, snow is not in. its also difficult to show in permanent realtime strategy game the effect of winter. you have to imagine that you must show how the snow is covering trees and the ground step by step, and i dont know only one game whre you see this effect, maybe cause its difficult to show it realistic.
but i am no programmer so i cant tell you true reason.

it would be nice if weather had effect to army and economy, but according the statements of frank&frujin it would be a funbreaker so they think its better that the weather shouldnt have any effect to your army and economy.

so i suggest a vote and MAYBE we can change the mind of frank and frujin,... and maybe we risk that the release could be 1-2 month later when it should be implemented.

A vote could be a good idea, but to be honest i would prefer that this game is released on the scheduled time and then we can wait ( and hope ) that KoH sells so many copies that they'll decide to make a KoH2 - this will also give the programmer times to implement the things we suggest properly.....and while they do that we can have a great time playing KoH

I also think that you're right about that it's quite hard to have a landscape gradually being covered with snow - and i personally don't wanna wait two month extra to get this effect in the game.

i was crazy of the snow and "weather influence army and economy" thing too
but when i started to think how difficult that can be to implement
and if its really making fun, then i can say: i dont really need it!

and when frank writes we will not miss things as tournements, i must give him right even if i havent played KoH yet.
why? cause i remembered that mtw was also without tournements and i didnt spend a single second to ask myself why that is so,...
so i can say he is right. and KoH will have so many features that i almost bet i also wouldnt ask myself much about the weather thing,...

I would prefer that this game is released on the scheduled time and then later released an add-on with all those features we asked. :D

I don't care much for weather effects in KOH much, but rain is ok. Does it affect your armies? Maybe an addon for weather would be great and have it affect armies, but for now, i just want the release to be soon and not at the end of the year...It's great now that day or night feature may affect outcome of battles, that's enough for now i think..

man i see all of those segestions and i cant help but notice that we want the game to be very good but realisticly people can u imagine how long it would take to make a game with all that ****:)

i'll agree - if the devs should implement all suggestions as they come, they could release the game ! so it's quite obvious that they have to draw the line somewhere - however that should not keep us away from continueing to post suggestions - maybe some of our ideas will find their way into a sequel !

well, the waether thing is only usefull for multiplayer, if its REALLY so that you only can play the battle maps. if weather and the area/field doesnt have influence on you like...:

1. archers are shooting better/farer if they stand on a hill
2. when it rains archers cant use fire arrows and not shoting that far as by good weather
2. rain/bad waether slow down your troops and increase the hunger that means the moral goes down faster.
3. troops behind a building, a hill or a big forest cant be sightet by the enemy (except the enem,y has some troops near them, of course) means you see the landscape (cause its known) but not the coverd/hide enemy

.. then multiplayer modus loses some deepnes in strategy

you cculd also integrate unkown maps, then you can include "fog of war"
