View Full Version : Anno 1701 Trailer - English version
Anno 1701 English trailer has arrived!
And it looks awesome!
I will definitely be getting a new PC by October!
You actually see cyclones ****ing trees out of the ground and houses off the ground and watch them travel up the funnel of the storm. And to watch a ship sail with the backdrop of the islands is spectacular!
Sorry about the link, the news page went down,
Here is the direct link to the High graphics trailer

Achja .. ÜBERARBEITETER MULTIPLAYER!

Edit:
Wrah, didnt watched u'r country - sorry dude :P
I'll try to translate my mind.
I dont like Anno1701, cause they changed to many things ppl identified anno with.
Anno1602 ist the best possible thing what u can get. They should rework the 1602-Game and release something such a "reloaded" edition of it.
new Graphics, old Soundfiles/Music (maybe some more) and the importantest thing - a fine working multiplayer :D
Hope my austria-english dont makes u worry.

AFAIK this is the main goal for the 1701 developers.
BTW the movie can be downloaded from this place, too: http://www.3dgamers.com/games/anno1701/downloads/ - or search Google (http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&q=1701+trailer+download+site%3A*.com&btnG=Suche&meta=).
From what I understand, they are going back to a tax based economic system, while holding to the graphics of 1503, but in 3D. Trying to combine the best of both games.

I think the graphics will be better... And I hope the gameplay will be enhanced, too.

I think also the graphics will be better, what I meant was building upon the graphics of 1503. A lot of the buildings look a lot like the 1503 structures and the islands have a similar look to them as 1503's
It looked really good, liked the cyclones ^^ (somethign you will probably be annoyed at in teh end, something you can't protect yourself from)
Do you know if it has Multiplaying features?
will have to buy a new computer for that game though, looked really graphic heavy for my computer
They said it would not be released without multiplay, I think they learned their lesson with 1503!
Here are some details I found:
Graphic:
the game is completely in 3D now
an own engine has been programmed for the game
infinite zooming in/out and turning is possible
during the process of game development, the colours
have been changed. They're now more realistic than on the
first screens
distant objects are blurred as in real life
System requirements subject to change:
2,2 GHz CPU
64 MB 3D card able to handle shader 1 effects
Menues:
the menues are not permanently visible anymore
and adjustable respectively
more options and menues will pop up as the game goes on
Gameplay:
the island world will be similarly big as in 1602 / 1503
it's not further specified yet - the island world in 1602 was
considerably smaller than in 1503
only two climes as in 1602 (northern and southern) but with a distinct
fauna and flora
fog-of-war (blackened map as in the AOE series)
predefined spots to build your first branch office, indicated
by beaches. There will be several at each island. No island will have
just one of those spots
the scout is abolished. The ship explores the island again as in
1602
when the first branch office(first shoreline warehouse) was built the goods are unloaded
automatically from the ship to it
carriers can be called to empty single storages at a factory now
appart from the material needs, there's community spirit now that has
to be strengthened (by building certain objects buildings (?))
money will be made by collecting taxes again

I read that the multiplayer is already working... I do not think that Sunflowers can release one more time Anno without a multiplayer.

What is the 'own engine' that you refered to?
Will it have an editor so we can have player created scenarios or will we have to wait for our player group to create editors.
I just checked the required system and I have that on my laptop! YES! Are they really issuing this in October of 2006 in English? YES! If gets delayed a little it can still make Christmas!
I borrowed that info from a post Tom Sailor made elsewhere. I can only imagine that they created an entirely new engine(what drives the game) for the game. They didn't use either of the game engines from the previous 2 Anno's.
The game engine for Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds was borrowed from Age of Empires II, making SWGB the same game as AoE II with a different skin.
Wow, this is a must! I really look forward to purchase it. Gogo Sunflowers!
