View Full Version : Army Painter
A cool feature for ParaWorld Multiplayer (for SP skirmishes too, I guess..) would be an army painter, where you can give your units colours (main colour, trim, weapon colour, stuff like that) and pick a certain banner or logo to be displayed with your units... This way your units would have a more distinct character on the battlefield :D

well that would be pretty close to Warhammer 40,000's painting system, and would seem like Paraworld is just trying to copy it. PLus it might be too late in the designing process to add a feature like that.
It's a nice idea, but we prefer that the units look the same all the time. Players should be able to identify them at once. Keep in mind that humans are quite small compared to the big dinosaurs, so it's hard enough to distinguish them on the battlefield. In addition to the mentioned "main color, trim, weapon color" it is also neccessary to have the player color visible. I mean, 8 different player colors for multiplayer matches. I really wouldn't like to play the blue player with customized red clothing and fight against the red player with customized blue clothings and find myself on a blue-red battlefield, where I can't identify my own units at once, but have to have a closer look all the time.
I think, this unit color thing rather fits into a rpg than an rts. It's a funny thing to do, but as a player i would rather prefer being able to customize my army in fighting strengths and weaknesses than in color.

Well that's actually where I got the idea from ^^
But if they make it different enough, leave out a few of the things in Warhammer's version and add some things, it wouldn't seem like that I think. There are plenty of other games that do something similar.

Good point, but they made it work in Dawn of War somehow (though I don't know exactly how, since I've only played the demo) so it is possible.

Well, I remember that making the units and the player they belong to easyily recognizable wasn't warhammer's greatest strength, at least not in the demo I saw.
It's natural that this game has a paint your army feature, because that's what the table top game is about: buying the figures, painting them and finally play. Painting the figures often uses more time than playing and to some table top players painting is even more important than actually playing with the outcome.
But ParaWorld is a different game. It has no tabletop origins. We want our players to spend time thinking about tactical decisions, means decisions that influence the gameplay and their chances of winning the next match. Coloring your units is a funny thing, but it doesn't change the way those units fight.

Aphelia is all right imo =)
and I suppose using customs colors would increase the needed configuration ( do you get my point ? cause my english is f***ed up :> )
a feature like this isnt a must have and i think most people dont miss it
