Never, I guess.

There will be a beta, and there will be a demo (at least I hope so). But a beta demo... No. Never heard of that even from other games.

I would think they are close to beta-testing the game, since the release is only 4 months away! But I have never known Sunflowers to do open beta-testing, so don't expect that. And the Demo would certainly be made from the finished game product after beta-testing is done.

Dobber,

sf started registration for a closed beta-test yesterday. it seems to me, that this test will be only in german language.
as far as i know, testing will start next week.

and of course: i want to participate in this beta-test.

Is it essential to speak German for participating in beta-test :)? - maybe sounds silly but all in all RTS gameplay system is more or less universal for most of the games, especially when somenone is playing strategy games since 10 years.

Well, I cannot find a beta test link at the English 1701 homepage, so I guess that the betatest will be restricted to the German version. I am not sure about the release policy, but if 1701 is published in German first, and the international versions will follow later, this might be quite logical...

All the discussion at the beta-test forum would be in German and if you do not understand the German language, you would be at loss. You would not be able to keep up with what other testers were finding, how things were going with the progress of the testing. It would be most difficult, because interaction with other testers is required!
Now I am quite certain if you wanted to purchase the German version when it releases, you could do so. You probably at that point could find someone to answer questions for you if you should have any arise.

AFAIK, if you do not participate in the betatest (irrelevant if you know German or not), you will not be able to read in the betatest forum...

That is true, you have to be beta-tester to have access to the beta-test forum, and since the version being tested is German the discussion will be in German. So being able to converse in German would be relevant to be a beta-tester for the German beta-test.

Now I understand the requirment of language :).
So I'll have to speak perfect German before the betatest of Anno 1800 or 1404 ;)

In fact there is :D, it is called "Anno 1701, the full game" and can be yours for around $40 USD at your local retailer (depending where you live) in a couple of weeks ;).

Donīt say thanks.

There is a tiny mistake on the main page. "Juwellery" instead of "Jewellery" :]

And actually it should have only one "l" as well and drop the last "e" , "jewelry" !

That depends if you want to use the American or the British spelling. Being in Germany, I think their translator would be more likely to use British English.

Did anyone notice Hopf?

Or Wisent?
