Here is already legendary (at least on Paradox KoH board) Anguille's AAR: The Merchant of Alexandria: A Fatimids AAR (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=193321) which convinced many people about qualities of Knights of Honor

holly me...
I started to play again after long long time, and chosen Jerusalem (hard level) and I have lost just after a while.....(so thats my second defeat... in my KoH history...)
I think Jerusalem is pretty hard... has somebody similar experience and only I'm so "skillful"

I gave Jerusalem a try once, and it didn't go very well at all. I don't quite remember what the problem was, I think it was just a general pervasive hostility towards me by my neighbours and even further abroad.
That said, I have a game right now as Antioch, with my Principality spanning from the deserts of Arabia up to the Russian steppes. That game has kind of stalled out on me though.
have you played it with Holy Rome mapchanges? if yes, it would be even harder, all the provinces are not catholic like the kingdoms, but Muslim in case of provinces of Jerusalem and orthodox in case of Antioch which is a vassal of Jerusalem to make it harder

hola Elvain, how are you doing in Israel?
no I tried just to play vanilla, (I think I have lost some skills to play (because I did not play KoH about 6-7 months and I forgot)...)
I will play for Jerusalem later...again...
I mostly like to play with muslim kingdoms, you're on your own and you don't have to listen to the stupid Pope, you don't have dependentcy problem like the orthodox kingdoms, you have full income and clerics to adopt provinces unlike pagans plus you have a morale bonus. The only problem are crusades, but you can handle them.

I have yet to try the game with any mods.. I'm not a "hard core" strategy gamer, and don't need to have my arse beaten down repeatedly to enjoy the game, so I haven't used any mods. I've noticed some of them have some nice changes, but I really don't need to lose battles all the time to have fun.
I do seem to enjoy playing the Muslim kingdoms the most, too. They're quite flexible, and I've never had Crusades problems, as I tend to play a very diplomatic game (any mods that make diplomacy a more viable path to take, by the way? That I would be most interested in, constant warfare is dull).

I'm trying to fix the Cyrillic problem of the game (or actually just seek out and replace where needed Cyrillic wit Latin), so I started a game with Germany on the second period. Need I say that I got carried away from the translation and started a normal play?

One way to get rid of the crusades, is to take out the Papacy first, then no more crusades!
I was playing as Wales and I got tired of my Marshall's being asked to lead a crusade and me telling tthe Pope "no" and losing Kingdom power or the Pope dieing and my cleric being elected Pope and me losing a good cleric and having to develop another one. So The Papacy was down to the province of Rome being the only one they had left. I declared war and defeated them so I wouldn't have those problems anymore. I took a hit on Kingdom power and some of the other Catholic nations declared war on me, but I didn't lose another cleric to Pope and I didn't have to worry about a Marshall being asked to takea crusade. That was nice.

The Papacy is a pain in the butt, I agree. When I play a Muslim nation I usually establish good relations with the Papacy, which prevents Crusades being called on me. Which is far better than having the Catholic nations declare war.
Playing as a Catholic kingdom though, the losing of a Cleric to a Pope promotion is perhaps the biggest annoyance. In my last/current game, that was constantly happening, my Cleric would be elected Pope, then eventually he dies and my Cleric whom I brought in to replace the Pope appointee gets elected and so on and so forth.
I always turn down invitations to lead Crusades, as Popes have terrible timing, always asking my lead (or only!) Marshal to lead a Crusade just as he's off conquering a province or squashing rebellions. The Pope never calls when the Marshal is relaxing.
